Pushchair for Twins

Hello everyone, please can someone suggest a twin pushchair type? We are confused between side-by-side and in-line prams.

There's so many different ones that all have pros and cons. The uppababy vista has a lovely big basket and is nice to push, but is quite wide and heavy. The mountain buggy duet is so easy to push, great all terrain choice and is as wide as the uppababy even though it's a side by side. The bugaboo donkey has the easiest harness system and is really nice to push, but a smaller basket and really expensive.

Whatever you get, there will be lots of secondhand options in good condition to make it cheaper. As you might find the expensive brand new one you get isn't actually what you like after using it.

Agree with looking at good quality secondhand or outlet pushchairs. It can be a very expensive mistake if you don't get on with the one you thought you'd love.

I haven’t got twins but 2 18 months apart and have gone for an out n about nipper double.
Its so easy to push and fold plus lightweight and not huge. I found travel systems really bulky and a pain clipping bits on and off.

bettynutkins · 06/03/2023 20:12

Not got twins but have a double. Would highly recommend the bugaboo donkey. Absolutely love it.

Darthwazette · 06/03/2023 20:45

I loved my mountain buggy duet. It never seemed fair to have one twin in front and one behind and the mountain buggy isn’t much wider than a lot of single buggies which is very helpful for getting through doorways and manoeuvring around busy places.

Our RedKite one was fine. Bought new and a bit too knackered for resale by the end, but lasted fine especially considering the price

ijustneedasleep · 06/03/2023 20:50

Highly recommend the bugaboo donkey!
I'm actually going to be selling mine shortly so if you're in or near west of Scotland and interested then let me know

Out n about! The tandem ones are a pain to push you won't find a nicer one to push than the out n about and you can get newborn inserts or carrycots if you really want them.

Bandanadrama · 06/03/2023 20:54

The out and about nipper.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 06/03/2023 21:02

Out and about Nipper used to be very good and was just narrow enough to fit through a doorway. It collapsed v easily and did not fill an entire boot which was nice. I had two sets of twins in my friendship circle and both families recommended it.

I had a McLaren side by side and it was a pain. You could not steer it one handed. It had to be semi collapsed to get through most doorways, onto buses etc. not helpful if the babies are asleep.
Def second hand and def both facing forward rather than inline if you can as it's much easier to feed them both when out and about as they grow up.
Second hand as in time you may want another solo buggy or two depending on family plans, level of intl travel etc. you'll mind less about a couple of cheap and cheerful travel buggies if you haven't spent mortgage level money on a pram "system"

Hi, thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions.
If I select to buy carseats now and buggy later.

  1. Can I attach any carseats to any buggy 2) or it is good to buy all in one together.

Some of them fit the most popular brands, otherwise you can get adapters that you can put on to use with your selected seat.

bigblueyfan · 10/03/2023 06:25

Out n about does not take car seats which is so annoying!

I had uppababy vista for the first year or so and loved it. The huge basket was a definite plus. It did start to get too heavy with 2 one year olds though and kerbs became nearly impossible. Also you can't really have both seats world facing as the back baby has no leg room.

We switched to the nipper after that and easily sold the vista on. The nipper was a dream to push, but I did miss the vista basket!

Polarbear5 · 10/03/2023 06:43

Agree out n about nipper double is amazing - we switched to that when our twins were around 1. Don’t know anyone who hasn’t raved about theirs. Would suggest getting a second hand bugaboo donkey to start with when they’re tiny - although bulky and lots of pieces, it really is lovely having them side by side and is narrow enough to fit through most doors.

Thank you for your advice 😃

Most brands of car seat go onto universal type adapters. If it says it takes a Maxi Cosi or Cybex then it's the universal type.

Some only take their own brand car seat.
