Giving birth with an (existing) injury?

Had a google but coming up blank here...
Does anyone know what happens if you are recovering from an injury when you are due to give birth?
eg a broken leg/ankle/arm etc?

I'm just over 36 weeks pregnant and dislocated my kneecap a couple of days ago. It was a bad one and based on past experience (I've done it before 😭) it'll be a good couple of weeks before it's back to normal. I was intending to try for a VBAC this time (had an ELCS due to my first being breech), but wondering if I should just go straight for section now...

So I don’t know but my thoughts would be about the limited mobility. There are protocols for when it is difficult/risky to move a patient (eg if you’re obese) which may or may not apply to your injury, possible restrictions on water birth or home birth. Also birth positions may be limited especially if you’re avoiding getting a cast messy as well as avoiding weight bearing, which could lead to more interventions.

I'd be tempted to speak to your midwife and discuss the option of a csection now especially as last birth was cs.
