Hi! Anyone had epidural?

Did they do it straight away on request?

how was the pain after?

im having contractions since 6 am! But they’re 10-15 mins apart. I was meant
to have early epidural but when I called them they said to wait till I get one every 3 mins to attend hospital. Another midwife I saw face tO face on my routine check yesterday said to go in straight away but I’m confused. Esp. Because I’ve been having contractions since 6 am and it’s still
the same, but pains increasing.

would it be too late to receive one if j go when I start having contractions every 3 mins ?

@Led9519 thank you so much for the tips. I asked whether I’d be able control it but the midwife yesterday said I won’t be and normally a midwife will top it up
eveey hour if I need. Maybe there’s different types of them? I also thought I would be the one controlling

I topped mine up every 10 mins 🤣 but did stop after a while. I needed a top up when I had to have forceps

So I called the midwife delivery suite yesterday and she was telling me it’s not possible to have a epidural before they do examinations.
hwoever on my routine appts with midwife and consultation with the doctor this was the agreement.

she was really rude and told me how she worked there 26 years she’s senior, and I should get my head around being examined ( despite me telling her I have vaginusmus). And shouldn’t attend till I have contractions every 1-2 minutes.

if it’s in my birth plan and consultation with the doctor to have epidural before examination, she can’t enforce the examinations on me can she?

You have every right to refuse examinations at any point, OP.

Hopefully she will be off shift by the time you need to go in 😬

I was waiting for her to be off shift but I think I waited too long 🥲 the baby was about to be born in the hospital corridors! Was too late for epidural or any other pain relief. But was not too too bad
