C-section, should I wait longer?

Hi!
So, my first birth was traumatic so I wanted to opt for c-section.
having spoken to the doctor, we agreed to start of with early epidural once i am in active labour ( having contractions) as I can’t tolerate vaginal examinations.

she said I will need to have waters manually broken, and Induced if the pregnancy goes beyond 40 weeks. She said the choice is up to me I can wait 10 days after the 40 weeks to see if anything happens. I said I won’t be able to tolerate that due vaginusmus, so agreed to have C-section.

however, I received a phone call from a midwife and she sort of had wrong information. She wanted to book the planned C-section for early next week. But I told her how the doctor and I agreed for after the due date. So she booked it for 3 days after the due date.

is 3 days too early? Or shall I post pone just incase ?

Mine was booked a week before due date. It’s pretty common. They don’t want to risk you going into labour naturally. I ended up going into labour naturally, still had the section. I think 3 days is completely normal.

If you want an elective section then they are usually booked for 39 weeks so there’s less chance of you going into labour. If you are going to try for a spontaneous VB but should you go overdue, opt for a section over induction then I’d expect that to be at more like 41 weeks, unless there’s a medical reason why you would need to deliver early.

Did you go hosp as soon as you had the contractions? That was one option but they thought early epidural might be better option

I was told to go as soon as I had contractions. Contractions started at 1300 as my waters broke, by the time I packed a bag and my husband had got home, we got to the hospital around 14.30. Had to wait for a section spot, but baby was born by 1800. I had to remind the initial midwife as when she was checking me I said I had a section booked in 5 days time. She said ‘oh don’t think you’ll need that now’, so I had to tell her to check the notes as they didn’t want me to have a vaginal birth! She then rechecked the notes and called the theatre team!! Was hands down the best experience of my life having a section. It felt magical and recovery was so quick.
