Piles 😰😰😰

I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times but oh my god I’m in agony.

I gave birth to my second via elected c section on Monday morning and due to complications with my bladder during the procedure I had to have a catheter in for 24 hours. This meant I literally didn’t walk or move afterwards for a whole day. Tbh, it is due to some negligence during the aftercare too as the midwives kept promising they’d get me ā€˜up and dressed’ so I could at least walk about my room, but they never did. I spent 24 hours naked from the waist down, bleeding with a catheter in, sitting up in bed.

I am sure the pressure from this has caused the one tiny pile I already had (from my first birth but never gave me any trouble at all) to erupt and now I have not one, but two and oh my god the pain I am in is absolutely horrendous. So far it is beating the c section pain if truth be told.

I haven’t been for a number two in five days. Not because I’m avoiding it but because I genuinely haven’t felt like I needed one, I have also been on cocodamol up until yesterday so I imagine I’m quite constipated. I am scared for when I do as I can’t imagine how (sorry tmi) rather large it will be and the pain it’ll cause 😰

I’ve got some Anusol I’m applying but do they just get better on their own? Please tell me they do 😩😩😩

You really need to poo sooner than later in this situation, it'll only get worse. Have you been yet?

PrincessConsuela12 · 22/01/2023 22:25

When I had my DC I pushed for a very long time (& ended up with a 3rd degree tear) which resulted in piles, they were honestly so much more painful than the tear & made sitting / walking etc so painful so you have my sympathies. Anusol took a week or so to work but made such a difference. I can't remember going to the loo being particularly painful but could you try a stool softener?

Congratulations on your baby Flowers

Anusol will work but it will rage a few days. The pain is horrible.

Get some Lactulose prescribed. I suffered with constipation after my c-section (not helped by losing a lot of blood and needing some heavy duty iron tablets) and it helps to soften it all up.

You need some Anusol for the piles, some glycerine suppositories for the poo at one end and some movicol or lactulose for the poo at the other end.

You need ice to shrink the piles down. Put it into a small sandwich bag and place on your piles for as long as you can tolerate. They shrink down well.
For constipation I had movicol. It helped move things along nicely.

I get constipation quite regularly and also had an elective c section recently. Because I am very well acquainted with managing constipation (there are nicer things to be an expert in I know) I know that lactulose does absolutely nothing for me once I get beyond 2 or 3 days without going but laxido works a treat. I think managing your constipation is going to be key to you feeling better
