Bruising after csection? (Photo)

This is my 2nd section and I seem to have much worse bruising this time. It's from my belly button to the incision. Is this something I need to be worried about or was I just lucky not to have it last time?

That does seem excessive. Mine was just around the incision. Maybe ring midwife if you're still under them? Or health visitor/GP

Are you on blood thinners as well?

My second was like this, so painful too, apparently it was because they had to put alot of pressure on my stomach, DS had engaged, he was in severe distress and they needed to get him out quick.

Definitely ask your midwife though Flowers

I would mention it to the HV/midwife depending on who you're under for reassurance. I had quite significant bruising but it didn't come up so high, they mentioned mine when checking it but didn't have to do anything about it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am on blood thinners for 6 weeks, but I was on those last time too and didn't bruise like this and I had a low platlets issue then too. It was an elective section so no mad panic and baby was head down so I'm just not sure how I got so bruised this time. It's gotten a bit worst over the course of today and no one is picking up at the community midwife number unfortunately. I'll keep trying.

I had this, This extensive with my 3rd baby/2nd C section however a haematoma developed it did resolve on its own. They do think my bruising was worse due to having a tubal ligation during the procedure however the blood thinners also contribute.

I did have it looked at by the women's health dept at the hospital I delivered at and they performed an ultrasound which dihbd the haematoma essentially we just monitored and it did resolve with no further issues

That's good to hear it resolved @Aussiegirl88, it's strange isn't it? Thankfully mine completely resolved too, it was gone within 2 weeks and I have no complications at all from it.

I went to the EPU and the midwifes, junior doctors, reg and consultant all had a look and were happy enough it was just surface bruising. They did say it's very unusual and they hadn't seen bruising as extensive before, the medical student working that day is even using me as a case study! 😀
