Im due in December and have a date set, what happens do you get times of when you go down etc?

Both sections have been done emergency due to them being early(Both boys) I'm hoping that DD1 is on time and comes on the date has planned.

So, are you having an elective this time? If so, you'll be prepped early in the morning and then given a time slot or a place, 1st, 2nd etc. An elective is a fairly calm experience, you're aware of what's going on and birthing partner allowed in.

Everyone scheduled that day will turn up at the same time in the morning, then they'll decide on the day who goes first according to who is highest risk. That's how it went for mine anyway. I was second the first time (11am) and first the second (10am). Both surreally calm experiences. Good luck.

@NotJustAnybody all three where elective, DS1 I was leaking fluid so had to operate 2 weeks before the date. DS2 I went into labour was 4cm dilated and they operated ASAP.

@Ladybyrd I am hoping I am one of the first DS2 has ASD(heart defect) and DD1 is high risk of having it. I want to get her out ASAP so she can be checked over. Bit worried about the whole thing if I'm honest 😞

Some hospitals do morning and afternoon slots. We were afternoon so had to arrive around 1000. We were told we’d be second and it would be around 1500. After arriving, we were in and out of the consulting room, seeing various people (anaesthetist, surgeon, etc), getting changed into surgical gown, etc.

We went down just after 1400, had to wait outside theatre for a bit, then they did the cannula and spinal and everything in the operating theatre. He was born at 1520.

Take good snacks as you’ll be nil by mouth for some time before (either from the night before or first thing) and you may be starving after!

You’ll get a letter telling you when to go in and you’ll get an ‘order’ on the day. Last time their were either 4 or 5 of us. I went in at 7am and was first and baby was here by 7:23!
