Due dc4 in January and I've manged to convince myself that I'll end up with forceps other births were "normal"

Can you reject forceps and ect and have a c section instead?

I think it entirely depends on what's happening with baby. Could you discuss it with your MW at your next appointment?

If it's that far down the birth canal is a section even possible?
And I had a section, and they still needed to use forceps!

My DS2 was delivered with forceps and it was absolutely fine, just to reassure you.
I was terrified but the consultant was lovely and the baby was out pretty fast!
I’d also agree with everything @PritiPatelsMaker has said.

Ahh thank you. For some reason I've convinced myself this one is going to be horrible. No evidence to suggest that just I've had 3 good ones bound to get a bad one 😅

Your body, your baby, your rules. You can decline any intervention, however, if baby is pretty low it'll be alot quicker to get them out via forceps than go for an emergency section and the consultant may advise you of this at the time.
I had forceps with my first, it wasn't nice and I wouldn't choose them again but if baby really needed it I'd do anything to get them out safely x

I had a forcep delivery.

No time to go for a section and even then he was that far down I don't know if possible. Plus it was a moment of now or something bad happen.

Cord was round his neck, he was literally out in a minute they done it so quick.

Like mondaytosunday I had to have a c section when forceps were used.My DC had, in his efforts to get into the birth canal, had got his head stuck in my narrow pelvis so forceps had to used to ease his head out of my opened uterus.
He is 50 now and a grandfather thanks to those forceps.

I’ve had forceps in a section, and forceps up my vagina and it is really not the same thing!

OP - in my case I was told that baby was so far down that a section would be a) dangerous and b) they would have to push baby back up which would cause the kind of damage I was hoping to avoid by not having forceps.

I think every birth is different, and you should of course always take the advice of your healthcare professionals - but if you go for vaginal birth it comes with a risk of instrumental. But if you’ve had 3 good births, I reckon number 4 will be a breeze. Good luck!
