Does everyone have "overhang" after c-section?!

I'm due to have an elective in three weeks, having had a nightmare and an emergency C-section 4 1/2 years ago. I never really got all the weight off after the last one, which was completely my own fault and down to some circumstances, but this time really am hoping to do better and will have more time etc. But I didn't have an overhang or ledge thingy....just a bit of a fat tummy!! (and bum..and thighs!!)

But now I've been reading on here about women who lose weight but still have this overhang after their second or third c-section and I'm starting to get into a panic!!!

Does everyone get it after 2 c-sections?? is there anything I can do to avoid it (slip the surgeon a handful of fivers!?!?!)

I wasn't too bad until my 3rd. Dreadful now.

I have had 1 section and 1 VBAC

have small bulge but that is due to copious eating of Creme Eggs atm and not surgery

if I did sit ups, it would go

am not overweight

stomach will never be the same again until I do sit ups

Liegeandlief - I offered to snog her after 14 hours of inducted labour with no pain relief when she said 'oh FFS yes of course you can have an epidural and would you like a caesarian too?'

LiegeAndLief · 23/01/2008 15:51

Ha ha WMMC. Was a bit scary seeing her come into theatre though (I was not in labour and still fairly with it - was to degenerate later with morphine). She looked small on the ward rounds but in her scrubs she looked about 12 years old.

What a wonderful place Mumsnet is - can't believe I have randomly met someone who had their cs done by the same person as me (and I haven't forgotten about Fairport either ).

sorry conkeyhead for terrible hijacking

whomovedmychocolate · 23/01/2008 15:55

She's over thirty apparently - can you bloody believe it!

BTW conkeyhead, clearly what you need to do is move to Oxfordshire next time you want to have a baby and camp out in the Womens Centre of the JR.

I have overhang and lost copious amounts of weight until I looked skeletal and still had overhang.....well at least rivulets of sweat can find shelter on my body

suwoo · 24/01/2008 09:41

I've had 1 vag delivery and 1 section, luckily my stomach is completely flat with no overhang...shame about my arse though .

Highlander · 24/01/2008 10:30

I've had 2 Css and I don't have an overhang. The scar itself is slightly bulgy, if you look really closely.

Highlander · 24/01/2008 10:31

sorry, I meant the area above the scar
