Waterbirth recommendations

Having been reminded that this is an option, if anyone has recommendations of where I should get a pool from etc it would be very much appreciated!

I think of the price of things too much whereas if paying for a waterbirth means that theres a chance I wont go through what I did last time then it would be money well spent wouldnt it. Im that traumatised from before that Im not sure I could go through everything again, I need to aim for a positive experience instead of telling myself that things will go 'wrong' again.

Thanks for all the advice and support on my threads around the board, its all helped so much.

I had a water birth at home in the kitchen, we hired a pool, was quite expensive, but service was good, though cannot for the life of me remember the name of the company, sorry not much help.

The experience was good though and it all progressed nice and fast once in the water. ds was born in the water, and the water meant no stitches for me (though he was only small).

i think we may have hired from here though they dont seem to do hire themselves now (ds is 2.5 now). There is loads of good info on the website though.

i bought a Birth Pool in a Box (type that in to google) - all in all it cost about £120 i think, that was including hiring an electric pump to go with it to get the water out after (my DH was VERY glad of this!!) - somehow buying a pool was cheaper than hiring one and i expect i will use it again one day! It was well worth it, i gave birth in it in our dining room to my ds after a very long and hard labour. Being in water doesn't take away the pain but i found it a huge comfort and relief. You have plenty of time to get one, i think i only bought mine about a month before my due date as i wasn't sure about having a HB.
Have a search thru old messages on MN about waterbirth, i know i have answered lots of Q's about it before so there is lots of info out there! All the very best to you, i hope you have a happier birth experience this time

dillinger - I had a traumatic birth with my first 12 years ago - and like you was determined that if I ever got pregnant again my next birth would be how I wanted it. With my second I gave birth in hospital in a birthing pool - but as it was in it's own suite it was a lovely relaxing experience (and only the odd bit of gas and air!). Does your hospital offer anything like this?
