Prolapse

Hi
Has anyone experienced a vaginal prolapse 6 weeks after giving birth? Can you really heal it from kegels? Feels like it’s too late for that. If anyone has healed theirs I’d love to know how long it took to heal, how many kegels you did a day or if anyone had any other treatment. Thanks!

You need to go to your GP and have it checked out. They'll be able to refer you to the women's health physios who can give you an assessment and a plan for how to fix it

Thanks but I have and the waitlist is very long. I’ve found a private physio but she’s not available for a month. I’m more interested in other womens experience

There are a couple of great support groups on Facebook, lots of women sharing experience on there. I'm still at the early stages of trying to heal my prolapse but have heard lots of encouraging stories of kegels making a massive difference.

It's always worth a go as you've got nothing to lose but there's so many variables around how the prolapse came about and whether you're doing the exercises effectively (which the physio was massively helpful for me on).

For what it's worth I had a mild one and have resolved it with just pelvic floor exercises so don't lose hope.

The squeezy app is good, made by NHS physios to help guide

I had grade 3 cystocele and rectocele, I had surgery to repair them as they were too severe for kegels to do anything. Definitely see your GP as kegels won't always help, and you may need surgical intervention x

I found the most helpful things to massively improve (though sadly not completely cure!) mine were:

  1. Kegels everyday forever.
  2. Hab it exercises www.hab-it.com/downloads/hab-it-pelvic-floor-exercises-digital-download/
  3. Lying down briefly in a day a couple of times a day or when symptomatic (even just five minutes, to take pressure off the muscles)
  4. Women's health physio
