C Section Red and Sore, Pic attached!

Hi guys, hope you’re all well. I had a c-section on 20th June. Recovery has been going well, feeling fine to get up and about but am still taking it easy not lifting or carrying anything heavier than DS. However last few days, the left side of the incision seems to be getting redder and sorer. No fever, no pain, doesn’t smell foul but worried it’s an ingrowing hair or too much moisture getting stuck there. Pics attached! If you zoom in, it looks like a stitch has come loose- can that even happen? Has anyone experienced something similar?

I don't know about the stitch coming loose but my scar did get infected, one end reopened because of it and had to be packed with daily GP visits and district nurse on a weekend.

You def need to see a GP

See your gp!

I had this after mine too. I showed my health visitor and she recommended I speak to my dr at the 6 week check. Mine also had a gross smell and was oozy 🤢Well I mentioned it at the beginning of the appointment and then dr did checks on dd and we both forgot about me 🙄 so I didn't actually get 'seen' for it and it did clear up on its own.

But yeah I'd still recommend seeing your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Mine did this and I had a course of oral antibiotics which cleared it quickly.

Mine reopened a few times in different places each time. Had 3 courses of antibiotics and a couple of dressings to help close it up.

Go see your GP. If not, then ask to see the nurse. They'll know if it needs antibiotics, though (usually) can't prescribe, and if you might need a dressing too.

I had similar a few months ago and assumed I had an infection. I called the GP who of course wouldn't give me an appointment (Covid blah blah blah) and prescribed antibiotics over the phone. There wasn't much change so I had my mum look at it - she said it wasn't actually infected but the stitches weren't done well (one looked like yours and one had a big knot in it twisted in some skin). She cleaned it out with salted water, removed the problematic stitches and it started healing immediately.
My 6wk check with the GP was a few weeks late and they didn't check me at all, just asked if I was using contraception. I said I'd still been having issues with the wound and they said 'well just let us know if you need more antibiotics'.

You should definitely ring the GP, but be prepared for them being dismissive. Fingers crossed your GP is better than mine.

Hi guys, thank you for the advice! I visited the Tissue Viability Clinic where a nurse checked it over, she said it’s not infected but it’s getting irritated by the hair and fold and gave me a roll of silicon tape (?) to use every day after I’ve washed and dried the area. She said that it should help reduce the friction on it.
