Induction for BP which is now stable, yes or no?

Hi so pre existing BP and kidney issues. Second pregnancy. BP started to be uncontrolled this week after being under control using meds up until now. Still highest reading I've had has been 170/97 or 160/101. Never any symptoms of pre eclampsia and have had all the checks.

Currently in hospital for monitoring and BP is stabilising around 140/80. It's been this at last few checks between meds so I feel confident that it's just taken 24 hours for them to properly kick in.

Baby has been 100% happy throughout and growth scans show a good sized baby (est 7-8lbs at 37 weeks).

So induction is booked to start 11am today. Cervix last checked on Thursday and was closed but softening. Think she sweeped a bit too...Have had BH with increasing strength (have had them for weeks anyway) but nothing more significant to suggest things are starting by themselves.

Any point in holding off a few days to allow my body and baby some time if BP stays stable or just have the baby today??

I am impatient but also want to avoid the drip...I was induced at 39wks last time, baby arrived after 24 hours and just needed the pessary then waters broken, epidural for BP.

It’s a stable BP but systolic still a bit high, I’d take the induction

I'd be inclined to go for the induction. Get back off the meds asap. Were you induced for BP with your first as well? If you only needed the pessary, hopefully you'll only need it this time as well, even if it is a little earlier.

I'd take the induction too - hopefully you won't need the drip.

I'd not hesitate to have the induction as your BP isn't ideal.
