Hi guys. Has anyone ever had a planned c section and how did this go? Im thinking of getting this done as i dont want to be induced due to pain, and most inductions leading to c section anyway.

My first was an emergency section but My second was elective and was a good experience, it’s all well organised and so much better than the first! Went smoothly, I didn’t take any painkillers with the second one I just took CBD oil and that was much better :-) they say second section is always worse but I didn’t find that to be the case

Yes had an elective, first baby, all went so textbook and straightforward. Within 2 weeks other than a niggling feeling there making me walk slower, I felt back to normal almost

I had an elective for similar reasons and loved it. It went great and I had a great recovery (I expected it to be bad). I would 100% do it again!

Elective here too and would recommend. I had a great experience, lovely memories and a good recovery.

I had an elective and very happy with it.

Wanting to avoid an emergency c at all costs is a good reason to have an elective - that was the reason I made the choice.

Wanting to avoid pain is definitely not a good reason. I found recovery INCREDIBLY painful. Like sharp searing pain levels painful. I honestly felt like I had been hit by a bus and the only thing which touched it was liquid morphine for weeks.

Some people find it not that painful though. I don’t think it’s a pain threshold thing necessarily as I have slashed my cornea in half before so I do know pain and dealt with that quite well with no pain relief. I think it’s a body type thing. I had an extremely strong core and I think this was part of the problem. The tighter and tauter your body the harder they have to prize apart your abdominal wall and the tighter they have to sow everything back together.

It is also not without risk. It is a major surgery and you should be aware of that. But there’s a risk you may need one anyway - as with any birth.

It’s a hard decision and I am not telling you the above to scare you. It’s important you prepare mentally so you don’t have regret at your choice and you make sure you have lots of extra support to enable to care for your little one in the first couple of weeks.

❤️

2 electives - for me it was all very controlled, everything went ok, only downside was pain at the time of recovery (low pain threshold) but after a week felt much better and within 10 days with second I was driving etc. 2nd was actually quicker recovery than the 1st - had excellent surgeon 2nd time so maybe the reason! I would have another if had to choose again.
