C section or vbac

Hello I have another post about helping my body progress with natural labour but I also would like to hear peoples stories on if they have successfully had a VBAC after 2 sections. 1st section was an emergency as heart had stopped 6 years ago and 2nd section was 4 and half years ago because I didn't progress in labour but I'm really wanting a natural birth as I find the recovery from a section horrendous...I just want to know if it's possible and what I can do to help it happen?

I haven't had both, but I would like to add that vaginal birth doesn't necessarily mean no recovery time. I had a vaginal birth with episiotomy and my friend has a c-section the same week. It took me 13 weeks to heal as my stitches came out whereas she was healed much earlier. I also got an infection. I was in hospital for 2 days after birth, my friend who had a c-section was out the morning after hers.

Oh no I didn't mean to make it sound like a thought a natural was without it's own issues, my first labour was natural and just from personal experience I found the recovery easier then the recovery of a section x

You will be very strongly advised against vbac after 2 Caesarean sections. The majority of the stats for vbac are for 1 previous section, the risk of scar rupture is higher with each caesarean.

See the consultant and midwife have both said if I go into labour spontaneously they will let/want me to try and labour myself as I'll be able to be monitored. I was fine with having a section when I was told it would be 36 weeks but now they are saying 39 weeks and I have fears over going into labour on my own and then a panicked section x

But the majority of the recovery of vaginal birth is from the physical trauma caused by vaginal delivery, which you didn’t experience? You can’t compare the recovery of 1st stage of labour to that of a vaginal birth.

gs26 · 30/06/2022 11:25

@IncredibleSulk no my first child was born naturally, no section. So I have that labour and recovery to compare my sections too.

@IncredibleSulk I should have stated that only 2 out of my 3 babies was sections, I just didn't think it was valid when questioning a VBAC. my first was naturally delivered and then 2 sections after that

What did you find horrendous about the c section recovery? Is there anything you can do in advance/plan to make it any less horrendous?

Honestly it's just the recovery and what you can and can't do in general. I felt very useless both times around with my older children and left me feeling a bit crappy as a mother and there's only a certain extent you can do before it hurts or before you worry about injuring yourself. Basically the things I'm scared of are the unavoidable🤣. The actual section it's self doesn't bother me a huge deal just the recovery process and healing

Ah ok, my mistake. Although, what's to say a second vaginal birth doesn't have a longer recovery than your first and c-section?

gs26 · 30/06/2022 11:33

@AWobABobBob It might well do but I just feel physically I'll be able to more for my older children and I feel would feel a lot better and more positive going into a natural birth then a section
