C-Section abdominal pain

I was just hoping for reassurance/experiences from c-section moms.

I'm 11 days post scheduled C-section, recovery has been pretty good actually. My main concern is that if I push on my stomach, specifically under the belly button and down to the wound its still very tender. Not pushing very hard, obviously. I was just testing the waters! Did anyone have this or know if it's normal? And roughly when it will go away?

I also had the wound closed with surgical glue which has mostly come off now. Most of the wound is a neat closed line, with a few small places which look more open. Not bleeding or oozing or anything, just not fully closed! Is this normal? I see the doctor on Tuesday so I will ask then but could do with the thoughts of moms until then.

My c section scar was all over the place until c. 7 weeks when it went immaculate overnight.

I remember being so panicked about the ‘open’ bits (they looked a bit like eye shapes) that I thought it was all coming undone and ran to hospital terrified. Turns out they weren’t opening, just the tension is odd down there. So you have swelling in places which make the non swelling bits look open. I also had puckered indents and the belly pouch.

Then one morning I woke up and it was like the pics you see on the internet of the perfect smile line. No puckering, no overhang - nothing.

Surgeon deserves a medal tbh. One very skilled lady.

Pain inside when pressing is normal. They have to pull your wall of abdominal muscles apart to get the baby out so it’s going to be quite bruised for a while yet.

So don’t panic. Take it slow and let everything heal.

It's normal! Mine was delicate for a few weeks and hurt as I stood up for about three weeks.

DoodleBelle · 24/06/2022 13:29

It’s normal, give it time! But get checked out if you are extra worried

I have this pain and I'm 11 weeks on! 🙈

Thank you all so much!! I know MN isn't medical but this has put my mind at ease so much until I can get to the doctor.

Congratulations on your new baby! I just wanted to see if you managed to get any updates from docs regarding your concerns. I’m in the same position, had ELCS 14 days ago and have the same kind of problems with my incision. I also have feeling of “heaviness” and pain around my uterus weirdly.

Watch a video of a c section being performed and you'll see why it still feels tender! It's a huge surgery that cuts through all manner of things. You will be feeling sore for a while. I'm 7 months on and I can still feel tender after I've been running or exercising.

hi,
i had c section 2 weeks ago
i feel burning sensation on left side above the scars ..does other moms feel the same ..why is it so painful

Whyohwhyohwhy123 · 29/08/2023 02:51

It was about 7 months before mine was pain free. Obviously is was mainly pain free way before this but I still got the odd twinge. It’s major surgery takes awhile to heal.
