Lightening arse after c section...

I'm 10 days post ELCS and recovering well except every now and then I get a sudden and severe shooting pain up my bum. I thought it might be constipation to begin with but things are a lot more regular now and I'm still getting it. Has anyone else had this?

Did you ever work out what was going on?! Mine is the same and I’m 12 day post c-section. But it’s mainly there all the time at the mo and then random extra shooting! Fun! X

It's trapped wind! From memory they pump some gas into your abdomen during the surgery so they have space. I'm not a medic so not using any of the correct terminology. I was told to drink plenty of peppermint tea to help it disperse.

I had this, awful!! I read that it's hormonal, mine lasted about 3 weeks I think!

What sort of anaesthetic you had for LSCS? Did you have injection in your back? Was it a quick one or traumatic with multiple attempts and a similar experience of electric shock down your spine? Spinal anaesthetic is a blind procedure and sometimes can cause nerve damage in inexperienced hands.

Hello! It was planned and she was very experienced, you could tell by the way she directed the room etc. In my first c-section I felt like the person couldn’t rub two brain cells together 🤣🤣

It’s all improving but I think it might Levator Ani Syndrome as I’ve had symptoms of pelvic pain/over active pelvic floor for a few years and I also have endometriosis which makes lighting arse very unpleasant during periods!

Have you had something similar?

Let’s hope this is the case this time! 🤞🤞

there is no gas insufflation in a c-section!

CurbsideProphet · 11/02/2024 17:50

@Greybeardy oops very clear I'm not a medic and didn't take in what someone said to me, other than "drink peppermint tea as you'll have wind pain" 😂

The trapped wind after c section was shocking. I now know why little babies roar when they have trapped wind. It could be that, but will ease up soon.
