Hey!
Just looking for some advice, went to the hospital yesterday with really strong contractions that woke me up early hours of the morning got checked and had a sweep done and I was 1cm dilated the day after I lost my mucus plug I took codeine (prescribed by the hospital) and it slowed down my contractions completely which annoyed me as was told I'm in slow labour, they've just started to come back! How long after a sweep did you ladies go into full blown labour?! Getting so impatient to meet my little boy now?!

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard first labours normally take ages to dilate.

With my first my waters broke, couple of contractions, and then nothing for 12 hours later, couple more pains, and then again nothing for five hours. Then the pains hit really fast, I went to hospital 17 hours after waters had broke and was told I was only 3cm 😔 2 hours after that I was 4cm! He was born 7 and a half hours after that!

I'm currently pregnant with my second and three days overdue 😩 got a sweep this morning! I've heard you go with a sweep up to 48 hours later, but sometimes they don't work, but considering your already in slow labour I would assume it would do something for you! Good luck, and if you can take some painkillers and get some sleep I would highly recommend. I hadn't slept for 2 days when I delivered my first! Good luck

With my second I was in a wheelchair (failed pelvis) and still very sick (hyperemesis) and my nice consultant was so sorry for me that she did a sweep every week for the last few weeks of the pregnancy to try to get things going! They were quite uncomfortable and didn't make a blind bit of difference to be honest. Each time I had a few hours of mild tightenings afterwards then it all went away. I had him at 39+6 having had DS1 at 39+5 so I don't think the sweeps made any difference really, he waited until he was ready.

I think it's also true that slow early labour / pre-labour is pretty common; some women don't notice it at all and others are very aware of it. I'm sure you won't have too long to wait though!
