C-section overhang

I had a an unplanned C-section 8 months ago and am now left with this really weird, kind of muffin-top tummy overhang just above the scar. I'm not super thin, but neither am I hugely fat and my tummy has gone down but the overhang remains. Does anyone else have this and does anyone know how to get rid of it?

HinneyPet - no! Everything is far too distended and there are no visible clues on how well the various areas will shrink back (if at all!), so there's no way of felli g how much to slice off.

I've one of these overhNgs, despite never having had a c-section. But about a year before 1st pg, I had an op to remove cysts. Incision/stiching done well, no probs with scar, which has faded to invisibility, but there must be something about it which interrupted how the flesh lies.

I wouldn't consider a tummy tuck; spanx it is.

Posh probably had lipo and a tuck at the same time.

I've had three sections and the last two pregnancies my belly was huge! I was 52 inches in girth the day before I had DS3! as a result of overly huge belly and three sections I have the most awful overhang. I hate it. I lost a lot of weight recently and it is like a bag of skin, I want it removed and will get a tummy tuck when I can afford one. It is affecting my relationship with DH, I am very paranoid about my body as a result.

It sucks!

I have a small one,not technically an over hang as the podge doesn't cover the scar, but it is like a balcony over the top.I didn't have it after my first c-section so it was a shock to be left with it this time,is the surgeon? I am still chubbier than pre-preg which probably makes it worse but I think it would be there now no matter how thin I got.I really hate it but I wouldn't have a tummy tuck, too frightened of the risks of surgery when I have small children, and it isn't as bad as all that.I do hate hate hate it though.Had heard that you could have smartlipo (laser) for it????

I have the same but without the c section - just 2 very large boys!

I had 1 section followed by 2 vbacs and I have half an over hang! It is flat on the right and overhung on the left! I think it is due to how the stitching and cutting is done as my scar is wonky also. It does go down when I exercise more and my weight goes down put does not go completely. On the positive side nearly 9 years after having my first child and 5 years after my last, my tummy muscles have finnaly gone back together and I was told about 2 years ago that this late on it would not happen. So there is still hope the over hang will will fade in my eyes. Smile

No Posh doesn't have one but then she allegedly has had a procedure dubbed 'mend it like Beckham' by hospital staff, whereby c-section is done a few weeks early (to avoid stretch marks) under general and they do a tummy tuck and boob job at the same time. Could all be rubbish of course but as the proud owner of a three section overhang I am a little Hmm.

There is a website that shows pics of women's post c-section tummies.I found it very cheering when I was feeling down about mine,at least I wasn't alone.here theshapeofamother.com/

I always wondered if people that have c sections privately really can pay to have a tummy tuck straight after or if it is a myth?

Only, after the place im going to said to wait for 6 months for your body to get back to normal (and I guess for your organs and bits to fall back in to place first! Gruesome...).

Because also it takes a few weeks at least for your uterus to shrink back in size too and that's even if you put on no weight as well? Is it really possible to have a tummy tuck done in the same op and the effects still be the same??

Personally I need to lose a few stone first before I have mind done so quite happy to wait the 6 months!

I can't imagine they can do a tummy tuck straight after, though it might be that the skill and experience of the surgeon doing the section has some effect on how it looks cosmetically afterwards, and that if you're paying privately they're more likely to pay attention to cosmetic issues and the overall experience, on top of the essential stuff.
