Covid positive for birth

I’m not in this situation yet but I think it’s quite likely as I am 41 weeks and booked for an induction on Thursday and my toddler has tested positive for covid today. So far my husband and I are negative but I’m guessing it’s a matter of time until that changes. Has anyone been in this situation recently. Any tips? I’m trying to prepare myself for a solo birth on a red labour ward as I think that’s the most likely scenario now but not sure what that will actually mean in practice.

Have you read the hospital guidelines? They should tell you clearly what their procedure is.

I just gave birth covid positive, I had a home birth but then transferred in to stitch up a bad tear so ended up in overnight. No one was remotely bothered about the COVID, we just got a private room which was great, and my husband was allowed to stay the whole time.

I know that's probably not comparable to your situation but that was my experience!

In my local maternity unit the staff just gown up, mask up and get on with it.
Private room for you for the duration. If baby requires NICU they'll be in an isolation room and you still have unrestricted access as long as you wear the high grade mask
