Just that really. I'm currently 36 weeks into my third pregnancy and feeling more anxious about it than both times before... Both previous deliveries were relatively uncomplicated and quick (especially the second one), so I guess I'm thinking that statistically it's more likely something will go wrong this time...

How did it go for you? In comparison to your previous two? And if you want to add in any tips for combatting anxiety at this stage, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks xx

Dc3 expected in 3 weeks, similar story to you. Trying hypnobirthing this time and have a tens. What is the gap between your other 2 and dc3?
BoneWithTheWind · 07/03/2022 20:20

hi @maama0f3, I've done a bit of hypnobirthing last time around but a bit half-heartedly I guess. All happened so smoothly and quickly that I didn't really need it.. My DS1 is 9 and DS2 has just turned 2 - what about you?

Also, the previous times I stayed well away from the Internet in general so had nothing to fuel my anxiety ;-) Now however, my head is full of info, potential risks and complications etc. The rolling news stories don't help either..! xx

I have ds10& dd7, worry about the gap tbh that's one thing you don't need to worry about. And yes I think I've spent too much time on here too worrying about 3/4 degree and never knew about labial tears now (say what?!) 😳

I'm hoping the breathing techniques will help through the contractions. Where are you planning on birthing? Do you have everything ready?

maama0f3 · 07/03/2022 20:33

@BoneWithTheWind don't suppose it's an option to just keep them in there for a lot longer? You would think 3rd time would be easier!

Third birth was my best and quickest birth and biggest baby, All three were inductions, I have a 13 year old, 3 year old and baby is 6 months now x

madroid · 07/03/2022 20:39

If you have had two good births, statistically speaking you are very likely to have a good third one, so relax Grin

I have 3girls, 10, 5 and 18 months and was very lucky with all 3. Most of my anxiety we caused by the consultant threatening to induce my first baby early due to my age and threatening me with early induction/c-section for my second as she was swimming round quite happily all the way to term and was always breech or transverse when we saw the consultant but turned head down for midwife appointments... In the end they were both water births at 42 weeks with no problems. Dd1 was 6 hours from first twinge, dd2 was 3 hours and would have been faster had I not been sat in a wheelchair waiting for my husband to arrive. Dd3 arrived 3 hours after my 41 week midwife check when the compete lack of signs meant i booked an appointment for the following week... 2½ hours after the 1200appointment I had a twinge, then lots in quick succession. I rang to cancel the MAFU planning appointment the midwife had booked for 5pm and they asked if I wanted to go in. I agreed, found dd1+2's bags do my husband could drop them at mums. At the last minute I decided to go in the car with them (10 mins in opposite direction) we dropped the girls and went to the unit. Dd3 arrived just before 330, 20 minutes after I got to the hospital... Super speedy, no pain relief, no tears or grazes.
I hope you are as lucky as me Grin

Bobojangles · 07/03/2022 21:13

She was born in under 30mins (midwife's recorded it as a 12min labour) - no pain relief standing up. Nor even a graze and back home in 6 hours 😁

By contrast my first took 3 days and was extremely traumatic

Crispynoodle · 07/03/2022 21:30

I've a great 4th birth story. Luckily I was in hospital because I was to be induced. My entire Labour and delivery is recorded at 1 minute 49 seconds! She did come out a little startled!

BoneWithTheWind · 07/03/2022 22:46

@maama0f3 - regarding the gap - my second DS was 7 years older than my first and that birth went super smooth - hope it goes that way for you too. I don't think your body just forgets - muscle memory is real!
Planning to give birth in hospital - really don't want to leave it too late - my second birth was also really quick and I'm just thinking what's gonna happen if it starts all suddenly and I won't make it to hospital..! I'm ALMOST ready, still waiting for the cot bed, my bags are more or less there.. I wish I had a bit more time to prepare mentally. I find that with 2 children always needing something I hardly had a chance to get my head around it and now suddenly my due date is fast approaching and im panicking a bit..

@Crispynoodle - Crikey...! I really don't want this to happen to me - not when I'm at home at least..! Are you holding a Guinness record for that? Grin

@Mysa74, @Bobojangles, @surreymum89 and @madroid Thank you all for your reassurances, I do hope to be as lucky as you! Smooth, uncomplicated, calm and quick (though not so quick to be stuck delivering on my sofa). This is what I'm going to focus on and visualise. Thank you again xx
