Heavier bleeding, should I see my GP?

I had a c section 2.5 weeks ago. My bleeding had near enough stopped by day 11. That eveening, I had an hour of really heavy red bleeding where I had to sit on the toilet. I know I should have contacted someone then but it was a Friday night my other kids were asleep.

Anyway, the bleeding calmed down but has been quite heavy ever since. I don't have any pain, just the occasional ache. My wound is healing well, no temperature, I stopped all painkillers last week and I feel pretty much back to normal.

Do you think I should speak to my gp tomorrow? If I had any other symptoms, I wouldn't even need to ask but I have no other signs of infection im sure what to do. This is my first c section so don't know if this is normal or not.

I would speak to them, yes.

Had you become more active before the bleeding became heavier? Increased activity can cause heavier bleeding but absolutely, if you’re concerned, you should contact your GP or even contact maternity assessment/triage where you delivered.

I bled for 6 weeks following an emergency C-Section. But that was continuous bleeding. As yours stopped and has started again I would ask for advice. I assume you're now discharged from the midwives but could you still contact them? Or the postnatal ward?

First ELCS my bleeding stopped after 6 weeks, but with my second ELCS I felt like it lasted forever - 11 weeks, and it was miles heavier than the first time too. I found doing ANYTHING remotely more active than sitting down would cause it to become heavy - and it really worried me, but I remember reading about how some women just bleed for longer and that's their 'norm' so pushed it to the back of my mind. Bleeding stopped at 11 weeks, then spotting for a week, then nothing. If you're worried ring your GP for reassurance, but just wanted to share my story and that some people bleed beyond 6 weeks Smile

No I didn't become more active. If anything, I'd had quite a lazy day that day.

I've been discharged from the community midwifes. I wasn't sure if it was too far on for me to ring the postnatal ward which is why I thought of the GP.
