Looking for reassurance about pregnancy and birth after placental abruption

Hello! I have a little boy and would love to have more children but with my DS my waters broke at 34+6 and then I had a severe placental abruption at 35 weeks. I know we are so lucky that our son is ok, but it has made the idea of more pregnancies very difficult. I guess I’m looking for advice/reassurance from others who’ve been in a similar position and gone on to have another child.

I had a placental abruption at 32 weeks and luckily DD was ok as I was already in hospital due to a bleed but I was incredibly anxious for my second baby. I was told that everyone has a 1% chance of it and if you’ve had one before there is a 10% chance so still 90% chance it will be ok.
My second DS was born at full term by planned c section after a text book smooth (but very anxious) pregnancy.

@Kbyodjs thank you so much for replying. I am so glad you had a good second pregnancy - what an amazing feeling that must after been after everything you went through the first time.

Do you mind me asking how you found the NHS during your second pregnancy? Were they reassuring and give you plenty of scans? I find it scary that PA are difficult to detect on scans etc.

I found them to be good; I was consultant led from 20 weeks and had extra scans. I went in a couple of times as I was worried about the pains I was having which were just normal ligament ones but with my history they were happy to see me.

My only regret is not seeking help for the level of anxiety I experienced

There’s a Facebook group called parents of preemies support uk where you might get more responses if you posted as lots of people on there have experienced abruptions

@Kbyodjs thank you!
