VBAC

I'm sure there are a million threads on this but just wondering what peoples thoughts and stories are.
I'm pregnant with my 3rd and have my consultant appointment in a couple of weeks so want to get things clearer in my head.

1st baby was "normal" pregnancy, ended up with ventouse and an episiotomy because they thought her HR was either dropping on monitor not picking up right.
2nd baby was a rollercoaster of a pregnancy and due to a chromosome condition in her placenta ended up with a section at 35weeks as she was too small for a virginal birth.

Recovery wise I coped better post csection but that was mainly due to being in hospital with my little girl for a week, mentally the most difficult week but physically easy and my body had time to rest without looking after any other children or really my newborn as she was in special care.

I'm leaning towards wanting a virginal birth if I can this time.
What are other peoples experience and is it something they are usually supportive of?

Sorry for the total ramble.

I think if they could push you one way it'd be VBAC 🙂.

Personally I was swaying towards a section and they were happy to support that option. In the end we have agreed to a section at 40+1 as opposed to 38/39 weeks with the plan that I will labour naturally if anything happens prior to 40 weeks, however I have refused a sweep and any induction.

Hi there , your story is similar to mine . First was induction at 38w followed by vaginal birth with forceps . I developed sepsis due to an unsutured tear and had to be restitched and found it all very traumatic and recovery was long . My next baby was born 18months later and the trauma was still quite raw so I opted for an elective section at 39+3. Very positive experience and great recovery but I guess it didn’t feel very exciting , it was a weird experience and I preferred the ‘normal’ way I felt it helped me bond a bit more with baby , easier for breastfeeding and my 1st baby was generally more settled . But none of this may have been down to the section
Now it will be my third birth and there will have been almost 5 years between my 1st and third so I kind of forget a lot of the trauma and have decided to try for a VBAC. I will get sweeps from 38weeks and they will let me go to 40+10 but I think I’ll probably try a mechanical induction around 40w if needed (foley balloon). I just know I will run out of patience but maybe I will have willpower to wait until 40+10. Just going to go with the flow at the end . If I have any pain in my scar leading up to due date I will probably go for an elective CS.
Overall chances of VBAC are very high if you have already had a vaginal delivery and dilated .

Oh and I’ll also avoid any syntocin drip , I know some trusts will allow a small bit of drip if you need it but I wont go there

Also listening to ‘VBAC success stories podcast on Spotify (Australian show) has really helped me keep a positive mindset and confidence around it
