Am in complete love with Samuel He is so adorable. Very calm and snuggly.

Birth story...

Samuel Owen - born 27yj Dec at 19.40 by VBAC.

Had been niggling for weeks and had prolonged latent phase. Ended up in on boxing day lunchtime. Was contracting but only slightly dilated - 1-2cm and soft cervix. Also everytjomg seemed to slow down once i got there. Decided to leave and come back if things sped up. Went for a browse in shops, had a yummy pasty and the to my mums for family meet up.

At mums had 2 and half glasses of pinkchampagne . Had a laugh and relaxed with family. Come 7pm was getting very uncomforatble and pains strong. Decided to head home. By midnight i was crawling round living room on all fours.

Headed back up the hospital and was slightly more dilated.. a whole 3cm so nearing established labour. Spent majority of night on gas and air and had pethidine. Ended up hallucinating about the queens corgis! Also said i felt like a quaver.. floaty light!

I ended having waters ruptured as they were bulging. Things really sped up from there. Pains became really intense. I was already 5cm and was now about 7cm at least when i couldnt cope with the pain. Baby was back to back and contractions coming thick and fast. Had an epidural and when they examined me i was already 10cm.

We were doing well then baby started dropping heart rate and they were going to use ventouse. I pushed with everything i had. Had a fab midwife and managed to deliver him without ventouse but needed episotomony. He was delivered onto my tummy then alarms went and he was white and not very well.

APGAR was only 4 at first but he was 9 after 10 minutes. Was terrifying and seemed like forever till he picked up. But he is fine. He breastfed once ok and we stayed overnight for him to be checked and all is well.

The midwife was wonderful.

He is doing well on the breast and sleeping contentedly as i type. His big brother loves him and dp and I am so very very happy.
