"Doubtful" placenta and membranes?

I had an ELCS and my discharge paper says "placenta: doubtful" and "membranes: doubtful". What does this mean?

Kinda curious myself. In pieces maybe?

tudorqueenie · 13/01/2022 21:59

Maybe! But I wonder why. I mean I did lose 40% if my blood volume but I'm not sure how these things are connected

I reckon typo for “double” myself

Are you still under the care of the midwife? If so please ask and come back and tell us. Hope you're ok now, sounds rough.

I used to work filing midwifery notes and they would either have membranes / placenta: complete, or membranes / placenta: doubtful written on. Never quite sure what that meant though!

ItsSnowJokes · 13/01/2022 23:05

I had Placenta: ragged next to mine, as they didn't come out whole. Have never seen doubtful though.

Tomorrow will be our last midwife visit - I will make sure to ask and get back to you all!

Update - apparently it was a typo because it doesnt usually happen during c sections, but it means "in Pieces"
