Mums who have had multiple csections... what's it like second time round? My little boy is 4 I had an emergency csection as my waters broke naturally and he was breech. This time my baby is measuring small and also breech, I've been told that they could perform ECV but chances are it will stress baby out. I've filled out my consent form for a csection this morning just wanted to know if it's as bad second time round ie recovery, pain etc and also dealing with another child.

I’ve only had one but it was planned and such a lovely experience, even the recovery wasn’t bad at all really. Day 2-5 was the hardest but I had no pain other than when I tried to sit up or if I had sat too far back in a chair and had to get out. I would hands down take an elective c-section in a nice calm environment over anything! I’ll be doing it again if there’s a second ☺️ Hope some experienced people come on here and share their recovery stories after a second

Hey love. I had two. The second goes better because you kind of know what’s ahead and what to expect. Ask any questions you want!

Both of mine were lovely, relaxed & pretty much stress free. 1st csection my blood pressure dropped so it made me feel sick but apart from that it was all fine. Recovery was good.
2nd, it felt like they were rugby tackling my insides Confused apart from being sick everywhere, me and DP were having a really good laugh and a chat with all the staff. They gave me anti-sickness meds asap, got me one of the really hot baby towels to keep me warm, they were all really nice. Everything went fine.
I did end up with an infection at about 3 week PP but I think I just over did it and didn't let myself heal as much as I did the first time (I had a 21mo to look after too Grin) my GP was great and did everything to make it fine!

I had an emergency c-section due to my first baby being undiagnosed breech, then a planned c-section with my third baby who was also breech. The planned c-section was so much better, as was the recovery. I had been dreading it, as I really struggled with the recovery first time round but there was no comparison. The surgery itself was so calm and gentle compared to the first time and all my wishes were listened to, as I was able to talk to the surgeon beforehand. The recovery was much more straightforward and I was mobile much quicker the second time. Wishing you a really good experience xx

My first I had a crash section with a GA so my second I had a planned section and it was incredible.
Easy recovery afterwards as well, I was very strict with not doing too much and asking for help, not picking up heavy things, not walking too much etc. for at least 6 weeks afterwards. My eldest 4 and a half when I had my youngest so old enough to kind of help get things etc and easily old enough to be able to do things for himself.

I recently had my second c section (planned) after an emcs with my first (also 4). The surgery itself was great, so calm. The recovery has mostly been fine. I’ve had a few episodes where the pain has been bad but mainly due to not being on top of my painkillers and I don’t think it’s any worse than last time, just I’d forgotten how it could feel. So I’d say pain wise it’s probably on par with last time but in myself I feel so much better than I did the first time and have bounced back really quickly. Possibly due to DD2 being an easier baby, but also having to stay in our usual routine for DD1. I’m just over a week in and I can’t believe how well my wound has healed!

DH has been brilliant with DD1 and doing everything round the house which obviously helps massively. The only difficulty has been that I haven’t been able to do bedtime properly with her as I couldn’t sit comfortably on her bed/floor, but at 4 she’s old enough to understand that my tummy hurts and she has to be careful not to jump on me.

Hi OP. Just gone 5weeks post partum with DC3, had EMCS with first, VBAC (forceps) with second, and ELCS with third.

I can honestly say out of all three the planned section was the least traumatic, despite how nervous I was. That might be a ridiculous thing to say as I didn't really have a choice with the other two deliveries, but way up to the last minute of this pregnancy I was toying with the idea of another natural birth, and fortunately I went with ELCS as baby was breech oblique.

Yes you're aware of the fact there's rummaging going on, however the entire theatre was incredibly calm, the experience was almost cathartic considering the trauma of my EMCS, the time the team took and the reassurances etc was incredible. I felt very well looked after indeed, and it I wasn't so old, we would choose ELCS again!
