Pregnancy after previous baby being transverse

Hello,

I am expecting baby number three. Baby 1 I delivered totally naturally. Baby 2 was an emergency csection due to finding out she was transverse (lying sideways) after my waters broke.

Anyway I have a few random questions if anyone can help..

  1. Is my third baby more likely to be transverse? Will I be sent for scans to monitor this?
With previous baby, I was told she was head down just before the scan revealed she was transverse. So I’m very worried about the midwives getting it wrong again!
  1. Baby number 1 was late, baby number 2 was early.. What will this one be?

Also hoping for a VBAC this time, so any advice on how to increase my chances of success would be much appreciated!

Thank you xx

Sorry no advice but following as I'm ttc #2 and my dd was transverse, also resulting in an emergency section after 2 hours of pushing at 10cm!

Did you have a "normal" c section? I needed an inverted T incision in my uterus as the normal incision wasn't enough to get my transverse baby out, but she was big which I'm guessing yours wasn't if she was early.

I was told the extra incision means any future births would have to be sections but not of any other risks.

Wow. I was told I couldn’t attempt natural labour with her being transverse due to the risk of a placenta prolapse.

Yes c section was normal and I was told at the time there would be no reason why I couldn’t give birth vaginally next time. She was big enough at 8lb 4oz, considering she was two weeks early!! Xx

Highly recommend this group if you are interested in a vbac, they give really good, evidence based advice

@Emily6457 yes, I shouldn't have been allowed to attempt natural either but my hospital were under investigation for having 45% of their births ending in a c-section, so wanted to show that it was a true 'last resort situation'. Bloody awful really, and I doubt you'll be surprised to know that the hospital are rated 'inadequate' in their maternity unit!

@Chanel05 that’s shocking! Yes they should be working on lowering c section rates (WHO recommends a rate of 10-15%) but not by putting mums at risk! 😯
