Walking after C-section

How soon after a C-section can I get up / walk? I know that catheters usually stay in for about 12 hours.

I couldnt walk when it was breakfast and I nearly missed it as hadnt realised people were supposed to walk down the corridor to get it (I hated postnatal "care.") I'd had an emergency c section only a few hours earlier and been in labour forever before.

So just in case that happens do ask for help!

My.husband did my injections aswell. And my mum a couple of times but she was so scared 😂 I just got a cushion to bite on and didn't look. It's just a tiny scratch really. Grab the bottom of your tummy, stick it in, then plunge. It's a tiny needle and you alternate side's each time. I can't remember now if it was once or twice a day. Definitely try and move as soon as you feel able but don't rush yourself. My first and third section I only had to stay one night and second two nights. A pillow for your lap on the journey home helped me feel a bit more protected (potholes) and slippers that have a full back not slip on one's as you don't have to tense your stomach muscles as much to keep them on. Good luck!

@jmap81

Can you all please say more about the blood thinners? I have heard they are tough - does everyone have them? What are they? Do they start before? Thank you
I have been on blood thinners this whole entire pregnancy and have to continue them for 6 weeks after the section. So I'm a veteran! :D it's usually a medicine called Fragmin. they're nothing to worry about. You don't even feel them really, or maybe I'm just that used to them at this point. :)

This is so useful guys

Also out of hospital what helped?

When did you drive? Or go for longer walks?

Interesting that you have been on blood thinners and will now be having a c section. I'm also on thinners all the pregnancy and was worried it would limit my options. Have they had to draw up a birth plan with that in mind?

One week on guys and the pain is def no way as bad thankfully

My left leg was in agony for a few days and was dragging that behind me for a while

Not easy with the sleepless nights and the mum guilt that you are never doing enough

But hey ho xxxxx

The only plan was for me to stop the injections at least 12 hours before surgery :)
