Nipple leaking 6 months post partum

Hello,

So my baby is 6 months old and is formula fed (never breast fed). However I've noticed that sometimes I lose a tiny bit of fluid from one or both nipples. Is this something I should be concerned about? First child BTW so haven't got prior experience

I also had a chest xray last month due to my respiratory so I'm hoping if something associated with cancer is going on it would have been picked up on that? Not sure.

Thank you for the advice Smile in advance...

I was still leaking milk at 18 months, 8 months after I stopped feeding. Up until 2 years old I could get something out if I "squeezed"! Some people can still leak years after stopping feeding.

*my child was not breastfed

@op but you would've produced milk to feed, even if you didn't use it. Did you take something to help "dry it up"?

CrystalFlower · 30/12/2021 15:34

I didn't take anything I was just hoping it would dry up on its own eventually

I can still "squeeze" a few drops out and my son is almost 4… And I never breastfed at all.

Hi op, a chest x-ray may not detect mammary cysts necessarily as the depth of the rays will be designed to look deeper into the chest cavity. Usually an ultrasound would be the first point of call if you've concerns.

Get checked for peace of mind. Other signs can include nipples suddenly inverting, pain, a lump or redness.

My gut feeling is it's just hormonal- your body made milk during pregnancy so the "set-up" is still there. I combination fed and I leaked for 6 months after stopping, and now I'm pg again my milk is back (just a few drops)
