42+3 and really don't want to be induced.

I wondered if any of you had gone over 42 weeks and what your experience was like? I'm now 42+3 and baby is moving as normal, passing her NSTS, ultrasound/fluid/placenta all look good. I really don't want to be induced and put her through the stress of that. Obviously if she's not doing well, I wouldn't think twice about being induced. But while she's happy and healthy I would much rather wait for her to come on her own. All I'm hearing is horror stories from people who went to 42-43 weeks. Wondering what anyone here's experience was?

@elisremi

I am booked in for induction tomorrow. All tests were fine again this morning.
Good luck OP , wishing you a happy healthy baby

@Jessicabrassica you took the gamble just to have a water birth 😣 I have to be honest, I don’t really believe it when women go past 42 weeks because they truly believe it’s the best thing to do medically - I think it’s to hang on to their birth preference, and justify it by saying they’ve ‘balanced the risks’.

Glad your booked in. Your body is probably ready to give birth it just doesn't always get started without help.

Good luck with the induction. My contractions started I was walking back from the hospital Costa, so go for a walk if you can.

I honestly cldnt wait to get her out and when they said they had to induce me for high blood pressure I was delighted. It did end up in an emcs but I don't think it was linked to the induction. I was 41wks and they were able to break my waters but I just wasn't making progress after a long time and eventually baby got distressed.

My sil was induced and had baby within 5hrs no complications and she was 39wks. It's not always a horror story.

In your shoes I wld have had the baby by now as I'd be really scared about possibility of losing the baby which is the risk the further on you go. I wld rather get baby out no matter how and be on the safe side.

@4pmwinetimebebeh

A friend of mine went into labour at 42+5 (had daily monitoring) and has a normal delivery and healthy (9lb 8oz!) baby. A friend of a friend went over 42 weeks and very sadly had a stillbirth. Scan 2 days before was absolutely fine. Not to frighten you but that’s my only experiences of people going over.
Why on earth would you share that?
Hotelhelp · 21/12/2021 18:37

Glad you’re being induced. Mad to go this long tbh.

I wonder how many women there are wishing they’d had that induction a week early.

Hotelhelp · 21/12/2021 18:37

Earlier I should say*

I was wondering how you and your baby are?

Hope the birth went really well Thanks

This thread is equally reassuring/terrifying…I declined induction at 40+1 as I thought it might be too soon, I’m currently booked in for tomorrow at 40+6 after no sign of labour coming on its own. First baby. Im now reassured that induction can be ok but also getting scared I’ve left it too long…I had a trace today and everything was fine, movements fine etc. Thank god I’m going in tomorrow.
Would be really interested to hear how you got on OP?

RandomMess · 30/12/2021 17:28

40+6 isn't that long seeing though early dating scans can be a few days out.

MyOtherProfile · 30/12/2021 23:30

Some countries count 41 weeks as standard so I wouldn't personally go for induction until at least 41w2

Lollipop25 · 02/01/2022 22:10

Over 42 weeks 🙈 I'd be begging for an induction , the risk for baby is just not worth it for me. What advice have your drs given you?

Everything went well. I actually waited another few days past my scheduled induction to see if she would come on her own and she did finally at 42+6. She's perfectly happy and healthy.
