Hi all, I'm due to give birth in March at Chorley Birth Centre.... is there anybody else that has given birth there?

I'm worried as if anything shouldn't go to plan the transfer is a 20minute blue light run to Preston and as a first time mum I don't know what to expect!

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated Smile

If you’re worried then opt for the labour ward at Preston. You have to feel confident and happy with choices pre-birth as when the pain kicks in from my point of view it’s daunting and can be scary, so I’d want to feel as comfortable with my pre birth choices as possible. Create an environment that is going to make you as calm as possible. I gave birth in a labour ward room that still had dimmed lights, starry projecter and was very peaceful, until I needed extra support and the doctors were right there for what I needed x

Thanks Catherine! I can imagine it's quite scary, I've heard lots of positive birth centre stories but an equal amount of stories where people have had to be transferred, it's such a difficult choice!Smilex

The transfer rate for first time mums in birth centres is about 40% - remember it might not mean something horrible is happening g but that you need more monitoring etc- they have a low threshold.
If you go for it you just have to keep in mind to go with the flow and accept that some things are out of your control.
