Accept a sweep at 39 weeks?

In a previous pregnancy I had a sweep at 40 weeks as was advised it would be good not to go too long overdue. It was flipping uncomfortable and don't think it made any difference, still ended up being induced a week later...

This pregnancy, I'm again being advised to have a sweep, but a week earlier, any experiences of a positive sweep at 39 weeks? I'm thinking I just don't want to be messed with...

Totally your choice OP. It’s an unpleasant procedure - sold to me as a preferential alternative to induction, but I was already overdue and willing to try anything.
There’s little evidence they actually work, and stress can hinder labour - if it is going to upset you and stress you out, it won’t help anything along..

Good luck either way

Are they planning on Inducing you early for a certain reason? I always think if there’s a medical reason for induction then an early sweep is worth trying because it can help to reduce the need for that induction. However that’s just my personal opinion and the decision is completely yours. You can also decline any induction too.

Why the need to “induce” early? I had. About 5 sweeps in the end at 42 weeks and none worked in any way.

Do you want to be induced early? If not, you have every right to decline and wait.

It’s easy to firstly accept a sweep and be led down induction pathway when you don’t necessarily want or need it.
