Hi, we want another child. But I had a horizontal C-section 5.5 years ago.

I reckon any birth would be at least 6.5 years since C-section.

I have never had any scans or anything post-surgery. I got over it very quickly although the pain during recovery was immense - low pain threshold though.

I'm just looking to springboard into research. I would very much prefer home vaginal birth.

Is this even a remote possibility? We are willing to pay whatever it costs for private. So, hit me with my options/suggestions/concerns, it is much appreciated.

I just attempted vbac last Thursday with a 16month gap got to 10cm and pushing for an hour then emc as she was in distress
Vaginal birth is much riskier than a planned section but if you want to try go for it I wanted to avoid the recovery of a section with a toddler but ended up recovering from labouring and a cat 2 emergency section

It's not much riskier, that's not accurate.

Homebirth depends on the reason for your csection, some conditions rule you out completely for it, others don't. Again depending on the reasons for the csection vbac should be fine, but it'd be best to speak to a VBAC midwife in your area.

There is a fb group for Vbacs that will answer all your questions. Just always have an open mind as anything can happen I’ve had a v bac followed by a section, I’d have preferred another v bac but it wasn’t to be!

I had a straight forward elective 18 months again and am due baby no2 next month.

My consultant told me you need constant monitoring (with wires etc) when having a vbac so it would need to be a hospital birth and that I could have a water birth only if the water monitoring equipment was available on the day which it might not be.

I am being encouraged to have a vbac and the only reason it sounds like a good idea is in case I have a third where I would have to have a c section if had 2 before and risks increase. I am leaning towards an elective again if I'm honest but it's a hard decision

Meant to say *18 months ago

Hospital might advise constant monitoring but it is entirely your choice. I would advise joining vbac uk support group on fb it was invaluable for me. Many women having home vbac and many after multiple caesareans. My hosptial had wireless monitoring could be worth asking about x

Thank you. The reason was the birth just went badly. I knew little about it, I'd do everything differently this time. I was in an abusive relationship and was in labour for a week but they were 7 mins apart so could not go hospital. When at hospital I had two injections in the bum, then an epidural, then was asked to "push" and I had no idea what they meant. I strained for an hour before they told me I was too swollen for baby to come out, but baby was fine.

I had GA (I couldn't lie there while people were rummaging through my insides, just couldn't) and woke up to a baby. I was sewn up and recovered.

The C-section made breastfeeding difficult, she was too stiff and I had no BF support. I got a latch at 3.5 months and baby is now 5.5 :)
