Hi

I'm currently pregnant with my first and am wanting to write a birth plan, however I'm not sure where to start.

I'm just wondering if anyone would share their birth plans for ELCS to give me a base/guide?

Thank you

I’m not currently planning one but if I do then I like a lot of these ideas: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2613254/
I know that many of the techniques cited are offered at my hospital, although no idea if that’s routine or if you have to ask.

I was asked about delayed cord clamping, whether I wanted immediate skin to skin (if possible) and some hospitals let you play your own music. You can also ask for the drapes to be lowered so you see your baby being born at that moment and if you aren’t finding out the sex then you can choose who tells you (doctor or your partner basically). Not sure what else there is apart from that

This was mine, the lighting part was a bit hynobirthing woo woo as the surgeon pointed out they like to see what they're doing Grin Picking the song for baby to be born to was lovely so I recommend that!

• My preference is for a calm, controlled caesarean. I would like lighting to be dimmed and our choice of music playing if possible.
• Any electrodes to be placed on my back to allow for skin to skin post birth.
• Lowered curtains for the moment of birth to allow us to see our baby be born.
• Medical staff to announce the sex of the baby.
• My preference is for immediate skin to skin before weighing or cleaning. If appropriate but I am unable to manage this then baby to be given straight to DH
• I would like delayed cord clamping, medical staff to cut the cord once complete.

My birth plan was "go with the flow". I have a medical condition which meant hospital birth and it was in midst of lockdown so lot of choice was removed. As it turned out I had emergency c section, so didn't go to plan, but I did go with the flow!
