Breech baby

I'm 28 weeks and had a scan today and baby is still breech! She's been in this position the whole time. Is there any tips for turning her? I really want to avoid a section, I know there's still time but I'm worried she's stuck in that position and might need abit of help turning

Yes you're right, there's still plenty of time. Both of mine were transverse at 28 weeks and both turned by themselves Smile

There are some suggestions of things you can do here if you want to help LO on there way though Smile

Thank you! She's stayed in the same position since 20 weeks so I'm panicking now!

Really don't panic, mine were very much transverse for a long time abs then just moved.

I'm sure baby will sort itself out soon Thanks

Spinning babies website.
Lots of cleaning on all fours.
ECV (make your own mind up about that one, you'll get numerous scare stories on here. FWIW I had an ECV - uncomfortable at best)
I didn't try moxibustion.
I was offered a consultant led vaginal breech birth which I declined, which I'm glad I did as there was a very high chance that that would've ended in an EMCS.
Despite originally not wanting an ELCS I had one and it was absolutely fine. No issues with BF.
Baby required an US of hips at 6 weeks old due to breech position but that was fine too.
They did look like a little frog when born though!

I hope she does the same, I've never had a breech baby. Both of mine were head down pretty much from the beginning

I would probably try if it's offered. What was it like? It looks really uncomfortable. Her legs are up by her face. I've done a few things off of spinning babies today and there's definitely alot move moment from her so not sure of I've irriated her😂

Both mine were breech, both were sections. Totally the right choice.

My nearly two week old DS was just born prem (36 weeks) by EMCS because an ECV made my waters break. Apparently this is statistically very improbable but the midwives on the antenatal/delivery/postnatal wards didn’t seem at all surprised by it!

It is possible to give birth to a breech baby vaginally if they don't move. There's a small increase in the possibility of some complications but the same is true (to a greater extent) of a section.

If a vaginal birth is what you want you can try for one with a breech baby.

@shas19 The ECV was largely fine. They gave me salbutamol IM (intramuscular) to relax the uterus. It made me very nauseous and jittery. If you've ever had to have back to back salbutamol nebulisers then you'll know how that feels!
There was a lot of pushing and pulling from the obstetric consultant performing the ECV but that baby was not budging! I did have to go on a CTG monitor about 2 days after for reduced movement but the CTG showed that they were still very active indeed.
My baby was firmly stuck in position, and that I knew as I'd always felt them in the same position, bum right in my pelvis and almost in a pike position - hence the froggy legs, and head right up by my ribs (dreadful heartburn throughout)
The ELCS was the best outcome for me. Baby was not turning, I really did not like the idea of a vaginal breech birth. Like I said, I had no issues post section regarding feeding, they (and me surprisingly) took to it right away with only a minor latch issue that was rectified quickly.
My only complaint with an ELCS was that I had no relationship with any of the midwives pre/post labour. The post natal ward was a bit crap (big London hospital)
Oh, and they did 'nick' my baby's bum during the section, it was minor but it can/does happen.

You do still have time on your side but don't stress the rest of your pregnancy away. For everything a reason.

I tried all the spinning babies things with DC1 as she was breech for most of pregnancy but it didn't work for me. I had an ECV at 37 weeks which was actually successful. It was pretty uncomfortable (the doctor had knees on the bed properly pushing into my bump) BUT to me it was totally worth that discomfort as I desperately didn't want a c-section. The EcV probably took about 30 minutes as they had multiple attempts and then baby was monitored before and after. There are some risks associated with the procedure (placental abruption) so someone people don't want to have it, it's a very personal choice. I would do it again though.
