Talk to me about possible tiny trickle of waters, please?

This is likely a TMI post but if you can't do that in the childbirth section where can you?

I'm 40+1 second baby, had an exam & attempted sweep at 39+6, cervix coming along but closed so nothing much doing. Twinges yesterday but again nothing that's making me think things are happening. I was induced from scratch with DD1 so I'm new to all the watching and waiting for signs, got another induction booked for 41+0 if not gone spontaneously as have had various issues during this pregnancy. Original plan was induce at 37 then it went to 39 then consultant said actually all has settled, we'll give you til 41. Very keen to not leave it too long as last baby was SGA and this one was following same plot til a growth spurt when I was last measured at scan at 36 weeks.

Anyway- this morning, slightly interesting aroma and tiny bit of damp downstairs. I have been diagnosed with very mild polyhydramnios with no obvious cause, could this be a tiny bit of waters leaking, is that a thing? I have had minor continence issues this time as well but this smells different (there's your TMI). Equally it's very subtle and if I wasn't on high alert for any sign I don't think I'd have noticed.

What to do- stick in a pad and see what happens? Watchful waiting or make a phone call? Got absolutely nothing else going on at the moment, baby doing usually steady shuffling about but nothing else doing.

I know if your waters go you're meant to make contact and the clock starts ticking anyway but I wasn't sure if a couple of drops (if it even is that) warranted anything other than being on alert and double-checking the hospital bag?

Phone the midwives and ask for their advice. Don't leave it to chance. This happened to me and I was asked to visit the midwife in hospital, then was sent home to wait and contractions started later that day Smile

I had this on my first a tiny trickle every few hours. Almost like I had leaked a little bit of wee. It was my waters! It was 48 hours after the first trickle that I went into labour. Have you contacted the hospital they can swab to see if it is your waters.

How are you now, OP? Hope all is going well.

Thanks both- I was a bit crampy out walking this morning and had one 'something' that made me stop walking for a minute but no more fluid (have had pads in just to see) or any plug or anything, and no discomfort at all now, just baby wriggling about as normal. Bit disappointing but on the other hand it stopped me umming and ahhing for this evening anyway- see what the night brings!

Good luck!

When my waters went in 3 of my pregnancies it was unmistakable because of the pressure change - and, twice, a clicking or popping sensation. Even when it was hind waters only there was a definite moment of gush, which then stopped as baby's head was blocking the water.
