Am having contractions, spoke to midwife at hospital early this afternoon when I was having contractions every 30 mins and only lasting 10 seconds. She said to wait till theyre every 10 mins and lasting 30-45 seconds. Which they are now.

But contrary to this, I thought you should go in when you cant bear the pain anymore? My cont. are definately bearable.
Second baby, 40+3

anyone? thankyou

hmm. if second baby things could progress a lot quicker

how far are you from hospital?

camillathechicken · 09/12/2007 18:11

if you are managing that is good, but you should take into account you could go quicker and travelling when in full on labour etc...

JingleyJen · 09/12/2007 18:14

I would call them back and tell them exactly what you have just said - it would also depend on how far you are from the hospital 2nd baby with us came very quickly once the contractions were that strength and the only got very very painful in the last 40 mins.

Good luck!!

stockingfiller · 09/12/2007 18:28

call them as mine went from every 10 mins to back to back cntractions! and my sis drove me to hosp i kept telling her to slow down even though she wasnt even doing 20mph
good luck!

denbury · 09/12/2007 18:31

I've been told when they are every 5 minutes, and the pain makes you want to shout.

how far away are you and was your last labour a very quick one?

Marne · 09/12/2007 18:51

Go in, i went through labour with no painful contractions until the last 10 minutes unlike my first

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/12/2007 18:52

I only live 5 mins drive from hosp. so went in when contractions were 2 mins apart and a min long.
Not as bad in the car as I thought actually!
Wedged myself in on all fours with kids sun blinds pulled down!!

I's your call I think at the end of the day. If you are coping well, I would stay at home as long as possible. That's what I did second time and intend to do next time.

How exciting....!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/12/2007 18:54

Oops, sorry!
Have just gone against what everyone else has said!
Ah well.....

coldtits · 09/12/2007 19:05

I would stay at home as long as possible too

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/12/2007 19:08

Glad I am not the only loon then Tits!
Rather be at home with me kettle and slippers and a music channel then up the bloody hosp. longer than I have to be.
The fussing does me nut.
I'm just having a baby - leave me alone!!

chocolatespiders · 09/12/2007 19:12

i would go to hosp i stayed at home, and only got to hospital in time, was 10 cms dilated when i arrived there and the only thing keeping dd in was the waters had not broken,

and to be honest because it happened so quick when i got there i was in total shock...
