(TMI?) Bleeding stopped completely 5 days post birth?

Hi all,

Summary: I’m barely bleeding 5 days post-caesarean, am I lucky or could that be an issue?

I had an elective c section last Wednesday and I’m concerned that I’m not really bleeding at all. Sorry if the details are TMI.

Day of op: even the nurses changing my pads mentioned how little they were stained. When I wiped/showered that evening it was maybe slightly heavier than a standard period.

Since Friday: bright red and like a light to medium flow period. I’ve been changing the pads regularly but I probably could have been using one a day and not even “needed” to change it. light to medium period levels when wiping.

Today: 5 days post-caesarean the bleeding has basically stopped. I’ve not been wearing a pad for two hours this morning and no stains. The very faintest trace when I wipe.

When I Google, similar questions are about bleeding stopping after two or three weeks, but I’m at 5 days. Am I just really lucky or is there some known issue I should be concerned about?

Honestly don't know the answer to that one but if you're concerned, please call the MW abs speak to her.

Congratulations on your new LO

I only bled for about 4 or 5 days with both my c sections, when I questioned it with the midwife she said its normal because they suction a lot of blood out with the vacuum before they stitch you up.
After my normal delivery I bled for about 3 weeks so I was pleasantly surprised.

Best person to speak to about this is your Midwife. This is, after all, her remit!

Mine just seems to have stopped after 8 days following a vaginal birth. Didn’t occur to me to worry! But like others have said, do check in with your midwife if you have any concerns.

Yes,this confused me with my first c-section,apparently the surgeon takes most of it away during surgery.
