2nd baby, first C-section - NERVES

Booked in for my first elective section tomorrow. To say I am nervous is an understatement! I've had a horrible pregnancy this time round and suffering horrifically with SPD. This will be my first operation too. Normally I am quite a calm, rational woman but I am completely on edge I wont lie! Though I cannot wait to finally meet my girl.
Anyone have any words of wisdom or last minute advice for a very nervous mama?

Thank you 😊 x

How did it go? Was thinking about you today! Hope you’re recovering well 😊

Hiya ladies. Welcomed Macy into the world at 11:06am this morn. The section was the most in surreal/incredible thing I have ever experienced in my life! It was truly magical!! I'm still wrapping my head around it all. Not in much pain at all really but taking it easy and keeping up with the pain meds!
Xxx

Look at all that lovely hair! What a gorgeous baby and so glad you enjoyed the experience.
I hope other women who are in the same position find your thread! Congratulations

[quote Helenmumoftw0]@MyGrassIsBrowner from what iv seen a spinal and epidural are very different. Most people claim they don't even feel the spinal being done!

I am due next April and already know I need a plan section due to my previous birth! Its my worst fear so iv done lots of research and everyone seems to think its the best thing ever (after a traumatic vaginal delivery)

Heres my list iv got so far from research 😂

C-section recovery

•Get out of bed sit in chair the night baby born if goes well, ask midwife for help.
•walk little and often
•lots of water
•keep on top of pain relief
•lots of rest
•hold a cushion on scar if sneeze/cough

•put ice to numb skin before injections.

•After
Pukka herbs motherkind baby tea
Bed tray

Arnica tablets?
Belly band
Hot water bottle
Cold towel in the fridge

Medication

@MyGrassIsBrowner awww 😊 so glad you had a good experience! She’s gorgeous 💕 it’s just the most bizarre/amazing/breathtaking moment ever! Good luck moving about, take it easy when you get home and don’t move too much for the first few days. You’ll be a new woman by day 5ish 😊

She is absolutely beautiful OP, well done! Really pleased you aren't in too much pain - remember to still stay on top of the pain meds especially for the next few days as I know after lots of surgeries the surgeons have told me it's important to sort of stay ahead of it where possible, if that makes sense, rather than waiting until it gets unbearable. Well done and congrats again ThanksThanksThanks

Hmumoftw0 · 04/10/2021 22:03

@FTEngineerM good to hear 😆

Hmumoftw0 · 04/10/2021 22:04

Congratulations OP! Absolutely beautiful 🤩

Congratulations @MyGrassIsBrowner, she's lovely

MyGrassIsBrowner · 05/10/2021 02:20

Thank you everyone, you're too kind!
I'm still in a state of total euphoria from the section tbh. Really can't come to terms with how incredible it was haha!
My little lady is doing really well too. She's lush and I cant stop staring at her. Though I have been awake nearly 20 odd hours now and starting to feel a little delerious xx

Congratulations! Im having my first section on Thursday and this has put my mind at ease.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 06/10/2021 12:04

@Biscuits1 its an incredible, surreal experience. My ine piece of advice though, just keep on top of your pain meds. Ive had to have codeine prescribed by my GP as paracetemol and ibuprofen arent cutting it.

Both my c sections were enjoyable and recovery swift. If possible, get up and moving ASAP and be as normal as you can. That's what I attribute my good recovery to.

Franca123 · 07/10/2021 16:28

Both my pregnancies were horrendous. So I felt elated after the c sections. It was a huge relief to have pregnancy done and over with. I just felt wonderful. I can imagine your scared as I was for my first c section. However for my second I couldn't bloody wait. I booked it as soon as was safe for my baby.
