I had a c-section in August this year - in the hospital the physio came round and gave me a leg and foot massage - for FREE! All part of the service apparently. Anyway it was bluddy fantastic as my legs and feet got all swollen and horrid due to full term pregnancy + drugs for c-section. So dunno if you could arrange someone to go in and do that? A friend bought me a voucher for a massage but was a bit rubbish as I never got the chance to leave the baby and go and enjoy it.

Some pots of homemade soup that can be warmed up easily. Some main meals that can be warmed up easily.

thanks, will find out how crafty she is and maybe get knitting stuff. We already organise a week's worth of meals for new mums at church when they want it, either straight after birth or if lots of family round then, when husband goes back to work. i had it and it was fantastic! I am only now getting round to having massage i was given voucher for as with bf thought it would be too uncomfortable, dd is 5 months so a bit better now!

one of those tables that you eat your breakfast in bed on

I really wish I'd had one of those it would have saved soooooooooooooo much painful stretching

and a lovely big cylindrical bolster

Go round and clean her house, do all her washing and cook her dinner. That's what I wanted most of all after my cs!

What a brilliant scheme with the meals for new mothers.

Whenever any of my friends have a baby I always bring them dinner from marks and spencers - really nice and easy stuff with not much cooking. Also if she is breastfeeding maybe find out if she has a good cushion? After a c-section I good cushion can be really helpful - actually even if you're not breastfeeding i'm sure as it's good to cuddle the baby on too. And if go round offer to do the 'heavy' work like hoovering, washing in machine etc.
