Pre-eclampsia

Hi all.
Currently on twice weekly monitoring with the MW for possible pre-eclampsia. I'm 37+6 today and booked in for a section in 12 days, 2nd baby.
BP has been yo-yoing during this pregnancy and only once have they picked up Protein in my urine, and they never did mention what that episode was due to.
Anyway, past few days my feet have been extremely swollen. Hands aren't very swollen and I've had no headaches/visual disturbances like they say to look out for.
I see the midwife at 4pm today for my checks but guess I'm just getting my self in a bit of a tizz if anything is picked up today as they said they would admit me straight away.
Can I ask anyone who had pre-eclampsia this late on, what were your symptoms? And if you were booked in for an ELCS did they do it right away?

Tia x

@jessicakxx hey lovely. Oh she is grand! Absolutely bisotted. Proper mummys girl as well she settles only on me at the moment hehe.
The pain has peaked today though. They will send you home with paracetemol and ibuprofen, I wont lie, its useless. Ive been prescribed codeine now by my GP.
When is your section again? Xx

Aww sounds amazing ❤️ how was it overnight in the hospital? Did your baby sleep on you most the time? Did you manage to sleep? Not sure what to expect as in what I do with the baby whilst I'm in there!

Mine is Friday 😮 getting so nervous now, not worried about the op, just hoping he's okay. Had my covid test today, the woman wasn't very nice to be honest, had a go at me because my form was folded - no one told me I couldn't fold it 🤷‍♀️

Xxx glad you're well. I have some co-codamol at home so I will switch to those once I'm out I think as I'm not planning to breastfeed once home

@jessicakxx Hiya lovely. We're home now and bisotted. I've attached some pics. Honestly my section was incredible. I'm still reliving it because I dont want to ever forget how amazing it was.
Baby was a bit mucus-y (babies normally are after section) so she was struggling to feed for a while and I gave up with the BF because basically my nipple was too big for her tiny mouth to get a good latch.
I had a fantastic first night because I had an amazing midwife looking after me, they help you with baby and she cleaned me up, took my catheter out and got me up and walking when the time was right. It's a bit scary, you're scares you're going to bust your incision, but you really do need to get moving as soon as you're able to, it helps massively with a quicker recovery. I'll be honest I was wired, the ward was busy and noisy and in the end I went without sleep for about 35 hours so I was getting a bit delerious. The day I was due to be discharged was horrible, the midwife assigned to me on the day was a nasty, horrible witch and I ended up having a full blown argument with her before she begrudgingly discharged me, we both had a cry and she was majorly stressed out. Midwifrey at the moment is well and truly on its arse.
I'm heavily dosing myself on Codeine now, and trying to walk little and often (it helps as you can get a bit stiff if sat for long periods)
Honestly you're going to be fine. Enjoy it! I can't wait to hear about yours! Xx

@mrssunshinexxx Ooh you dont have long lovely! Honestly you really dont need that much for section. Long charging cable, plenty of lucozade sport, snacks, big big pants, maternity pads, nursing pillow (if you plan to breast feed) plenty of sleep suits and nappies, and a few nighties/dressing gown and comfortable slippers. Just things to make your stay on the ward like home from home. X

@MyGrassIsBrowner sorry ! I probably wasn't v clear and you might be sleep deprived 😉 I meant name shortlist ..,
I'm having a vbac or seriously hoping for one x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/10/2021 10:25

@mrssunshinexxx Ahhhh haha my bad! 🙈 we actually didn't really have a shortlist to be honest. We were toying with Athena but I feel like it was maybe a bit too exotic for us haha.
I hope you get a vbac. Are you having a sweep? Definitely get trying all the natural routes to induce labour!! Xx

@MyGrassIsBrowner I really love Macy I'm going to suggest it to hubby! Thank you me too j have a 15 month old so need to avoid major surgery ! I'm still feeding toddler so the fact that nipple stimulation is the only scientifically proven thing to bring labour on hoping it's a good thing I'm still feeding her I'm booked for a sweep at 38+5 and going to have a pregnancy massage on the same day x
