Are people asked to isolate before an ELCS?

I think I'll be asked to do a PCR at my pre-op, is that right?

And then do the staff request that you isolate for so long before the op? Does this include other people in the house?

I don't mind any which way, just trying to get my head round it Smile

Yep and yep

Had to isolate twice in last 2 weeks

Covid test 3 days before and you and house hold expected to isolate till surgery day

You cant use a taxi / public transport to hospital, has to be someone in your household

Well thats how the trust where i live works

Italiandreams · 22/09/2021 19:17

I didn’t have to isolate, just test before hand.

CountingDownToML · 22/09/2021 19:34

Ok this is interesting, thanks Smile

I've been given a Monday, but have two DC already in school and nursery so just trying to figure out what to do for the best. I know lots of people are pulling children out of school but the eldest is my DSC and I'm not sure how their DM would feel about that (understandably.)

I have pre op 2 days before, covid test straight after and then we all have to isolate including my daughter who's at school x

Thefaceofboe · 22/09/2021 23:48

They just asked me to be careful in between my test and section, like no shopping or big events etc, but didn’t have to isolate as such.

CountingDownToML · 23/09/2021 07:19

Thanks all Smile

I can't remember the date of my pre-op off the top of my head, will have a look at my notes when I go downstairs...

Hi, my pre-op is next Friday and my section is the following Friday. Assuming I'll have a pcr test done next Friday, but what about my partner who is joining me at the birth, when does he have to have a pcr test?

CountingDownToML · 23/09/2021 09:01

@jessicakxx I was never told that my DH would have a PCR test, just that they'll request he does an LFT when we get to the hospital on the day I think 🤔

Me and DH had to have a PCR test during the pre-op 2 days prior to the section, then we needed to isolate. No mention of the rest of the household, I was planning on just dropping DC1 at nursery with very little contact, as it was I didn’t make it to my ELCS date!

CountingDownToML · 23/09/2021 09:11

@Helporhindrance07 that's my worst nightmare right now 😂 did you still have a section?

So my pre-op is on the 19th, and my CS 6 days later. Nothing has been said about DH coming with me to the pre-op, will ask my MW about that when I see her next. Wondering whether the advice will be for the whole household to isolate that week.

I haven't been told to bring my partner either to my pre-op, just me :)

So assuming they'll tell me at my pre op what he needs to do, probably lateral flow as your say!

Good luck xxxx

Helporhindrance07 · 23/09/2021 09:23

@CountingDownToML yes thankfully things moved slowly enough to allow for my section to be brought forward so I still got my nice calm ELCS!

LakeShoreD · 23/09/2021 09:25

I had a PCR test at my pre-op. DH wasn’t not allowed to attend. If we had been asked to isolate then I would have refused because I won’t interrupt my eldest’s education, DH was saving holiday to use after the birth, and no one having a VB would be asked to, but thankfully it didn’t come to that since my hospital didn’t ask.

sarah13xx · 23/09/2021 20:18

They told me they were going to tell me when to isolate from but when it came to it they didn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wasn’t vaccinated so I was basically isolating the whole way through! They did say it wouldn’t include my partner and he could still go to work and for essentials. They didn’t test him either in the end up. They tested me 48 hours before and I asked if he should be providing a lateral flow result and they just looked confused. I had definitely seen that it was required elsewhere! They actually told him not to do one in case he got a false positive then needed to get a PCR and didn’t get the result in time and missed the birth 🤷🏼‍♀️
