Has anyone experienced being induced with twins?

I am booked in for an induction next week, at 37 weeks and 5 days. Both twins have been growing well and the first one is head down. Any stories, advice etc would be appreciated.

I was induced at 38 weeks. They didn't want to come and it took three lots of prosta . . (can't remember) to get going. Then had my waters broken and after that twin 1 (6lb) was born 40 mins later only a couple of pushes - all fine. (but they were my second babies).

Twin 2 (5lb 5) didn't want to come down. Still not quite sure what happened next - his heart rate started to fall I think - but had GA and CS and he was born with low apgar, but absolutely fine. No special care or anything.

All was fine - I healed quicker than singleton birth and despite CS and vaginal birth had SO much more energy than being pregnant at the end.

In retrospect I would have waited to go into labour naturally for another couple of weeks - but of course that is easier said than done when you are sooo huge and just desperate to get them out!

Sorry this is not really positive - but good luck to you! I still think that the newborn twins were easier than being pregnant at the end.

Oh and if things do go a bit not to plan and you end up with one vaginal and one CS you get a lot of respect from everyone you talk to

Thanks for sharing your experience, I have tried to keep open minded re: type of birth, I suspect you'll agree that being pregnant with twins tends to encourage that way of thinking. Am pleased to be starting off with a natural birth but know things could change during labour or once twin 1 is out.

It is good to hear that once they are out I should feel a whole lot better; there is such emence pressure at the moment being so huge and although I'm going from day to day I am definitely ready. I know what you mean though, about hanging on in there for longer but I decided early on that I would take advice from hospital and go with what they suggest, so only 5 days to go. Will probably be too busy once they arrive to wish we'd done differently!
