Anyone had c section at Heartlands or Women’s in B’ham?

My nearest hospital is Good Hope where I had my first and could not fault them at all. This time around I’m likely to need a csection but Good Hope don’t do elective c sections. I can have it either at Heartlands or Women’s. If I choose the Women’s hospital then all prenatal appointments etc will be there. If I choose Heartlands, I can continue going to Good Hope for everything else.

Has anyone got any experience with either of these hospitals? I’ve had mixed reviews from some about Heartlands.

Hi! Can't comment yet but I'm due to have my c-section at heartlands in 6 weeks, so far my appointments have all gone well enough and I don't have any complaints so far. They were one of the highest c section approved rates hospitals I found in bham.

My friend has had two sections at women's and also had a good experience :)

X

I had a caesarean at women’s hospital. I was really happy with them! Everything went like a dream.

Ah best wishes for then! Yeah if I have it at Heartlands, I’ll still have my prior appointments at Good Hope which is my local hospital.
The problem is we only ever hear the negative reviews written online don’t we? When I read some of the reviews of Good Hope, I think the total opposite and loved the place!

Yes of course, to be honest I haven't read any reviews, I didn't really have a choice. My requested hospital at booking was Solihull as it my local hospital, however was moved to heartlands due to being high risk as I have low Papp-a. I can't tell you that it is my hospital of choice to be honest, but as long as my baby is delivered safely and I recover okay, that's all that matters! But I guess for you it is just as easy for you to get to the women's as it would be to get to heartlands! When is your section due? Xxx

My first DC was delivered by emergency section at Good Hope. With my second (born last year in the middle of the pandemic) I had an elective at Heartlands. I was really apprehensive because it doesn’t have the greatest reputation, partner was only allowed in theatre then no visits allowed so of course the whole experience was a little different.
Honestly though, I can’t fault the care I received, hospital staff were really helpful and hands on. No partners/visitors either meant I bonded with the other ladies on the ward and we all supported each other Flowers
Wishing you lots of luck and congratulations on your baby x

I’m not due till next year so nowhere near sorting out a date but I had had a conversation with my midwife about it all so wanted to do some research.
You will be absolutely fine and I looked at Covid restrictions etc and I think they allow more visiting time than the women’s anyway!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It must have been tough with no visitors but at least you got the right support from staff and fellow mums!

Another one with an EMCS at the women's hospital. All went very well and planning to go there in future.
