How many days after ELCS were you able to go out a short walk?

Just that really. I know everyone’s different and I will really be trying not to overdo it but the only experiences I have to go on are of my friend’s who have had quite dramatic emergency sections so wonder if my recovery will be any better after an elective.

I do it easy for months to allow my body to heal on the inside.

I had the section on a Friday, and walked my toddler to nursery on Monday. It's about a 20 minute round trip, I felt OK doing it but wouldn't have wanted to go any further.

After 3/4 days I was doing things like walking round the supermarket getting bits, going to see the breastfeeding advisor. Stay on top of your painkillers! Of course I had to talk from the hospital ward to the car park and things like that but proper outings probably day 3 or so.

A week for a wander around the block.

The recovery on the whole seems to be way quicker than what I was expecting, to at least be comfortable enough to go a short walk outside. I’d kind of allocated myself the first 2 weeks to do nothing at all but if I can manage a short walk after a week that would be great 😊

Don't push yourself. You might feel like you can do more, but don't - you need to heal deep inside. I remember lifting a full binbag and feeling everything stretching horribly, it really freaked me out.

I remember trying to walk somewhere quickly a month after mine and realising it was a bit much - I just couldn't get up to my normal speed, everything felt very uncomfortable. But I had quite severe SPD in pregnancy and a forceps elective section as he was firmly stuck, so probably took it harder than others might.
