Induction due to mild polyhydramnios at 40 weeks

Hi, hope everyone is good

I’ve been booked for induction due to mild polyhydramnios (slightly more amniotic fluid). It’s next week on my due date at 40 weeks

I was pretty chilled about the birth and now I’m just gutted and feeling sad. Baby seems fine so it’s more just worrying about my own experience I guess… so I should perhaps just man up!

I’ve been very lucky throughout so far and just had been geared up towards midwife birthing centre. I can just about deal with not having it there, but the induction element is hard to get my head around

I guess just wondered if anyone has had to do the same. Are there any alternatives… can I decline the induction, is it really needed

Of course baby comes first, I just don’t always believe doctors know best?

Fingers are crossed baby comes before!!

And just to add they didn’t seem concerned, I’ve had blood tests for diabetes and infection but not got results yet. And they don’t seem concerned about the baby

You don't have to be induced OP.

You can ask for information, what your other options are and what the actual risks and statistics of those risks are. (eg. If they say hemmorage is a risk, how much of a risk? How much more of a risk is it than in a "normal" pregnancy/delivery, how does that risk change if you do xyz?) you can even just outright say no if you want too.

I think sometimes Dr's forget that we don't have all the info that's in their heads, and we need that info to give informed consent.

Fingers crossed for a nice straightforward delivery and home soon with baby whatever you choose

@icclemunchy thanks, fingers crossed! will talk to a midwife this week to get more info. Was so rushed and loud and confusing in the hospital
