Induction - how to keep positive

Hey,

So I was booked in for an induction yesterday at 4pm. I'm still here, yet to actually be induced. Starting to loose hope and patience, I hate hospitals at the best of times, I'm a first time mum and nervous about labour as it is and all of the waiting around is only driving my anxiety up :(. I've only managed about 1 hour sleep too. Poor DP slept for about 30 mins on the floor.

They did examin me last night after about 6 hours of being here and concluded I don't need any gel so waters can be broken so that's all I'm waiting for now.

Any tips on staying positive? Or even anyone in a similar situation at the min?

I know the wait is frustrating!! Just FYI that I always pop up on induction threads to say I was induced, and had my baby in my arms 4 hours later - no interventions other than a little bit of gas and air, and I would choose one again in a heartbeat! So I'm v positive about them. Happy to keep you company while you wait SmileHow overdue are you? Are you expecting a girl or a boy? What have you chosen as their first outfit? Have you got plenty of snacks with you?

Trust me: waters is better than the gel/pessary/wtv.

I hate inductions..... I was forced into 3 because of overdue babies. Super upset and disappointed

Good luck! Thanks

Yes snacks!!!! Coconut water is also great if you can get it Wink

That sounds positive already! I was there for 3 days before I even dilated! Sounds like you're in a very favourable position if they can just do your waters. Sure it won't be long Smile

Its already very positive that they can go straight to breaking your waters.

I was terrified of getting induced because of all the horror stories you hear.

They broke my waters at 11 and baby was born by 5. It was a great positive experience.

I would advise lots of walking post waters breaking and sitting/bouncing on a birthing ball to get going.

Best of luck, hope it all goes well for you.

Hi all, sorry for my disappearance, as it turns out I had my waters broken at 8am and baby in arms by 12! All happened super fast, it was a bit of a traumatic one and I needed a lot of stitches but baby is healthy and happy! Thank you all for your comments, they did keep me feeling positive in the run up to waters breaking!
