im booked in to have a home birth and im also planning to use a birthing pool.

should i ask my landlord if this is ok or continue with my "what they don't know won't hurt" philosophy.

is it even any of my landlords business??

none of your landlords business IMO.

DaisyMoo · 26/11/2007 12:49

No, absolutely not. Would you phone him to ask if you can have a bath? And if he says no then it's added stress when he really has no business in passing comment or giving 'permission' If you have concerns about the strength of the floor then that's slightly different, but unless it's a very old house and you're having the pool upstairs it's vvvvv unlikely to be an issue.

I don't think it's anything to do with th elandlord. It's not a permenant structure and will not effect the preoperty in anyway.

unless, of course, he's also your midwife. Then you should discuss it with him.

I didn't mention it. I did have to work to get the stain out of the carpet though - remember, buy protection for floor and use it

micegg · 26/11/2007 13:55

I am a landlday and woudlnt expect my tenants to ask my permission. Best of luck

Peachy · 26/11/2007 13:56

Didn't even occur to me to ask for the one I have booked

if carpets etc were damaged (highly unlikely) its my responsibility to replace anyhow

Not that mine would care- she'd probably be waiting with flowers LOL

me23 · 26/11/2007 13:56

none of landlords business. Wishing you happy labour and birth vibes.

theslownorris · 26/11/2007 13:57

I didn't ask permission either.

Flame-I had covers for the floor and used them, but still managed to miss it all . Dh did the cleaning up though

frootloop · 26/11/2007 15:09

i wasn't going to tell them, i was just wondering if i was being very naughty in not saying, the landlord lives right next door.

ill just buy a huge bit of waterproof sheeting from B&Q and loads of towels and just hope the cats don't decide the pool makes a good scratching post

frootloop, we have many tenants and certainly wouldnt expect them to ask if they can have a homebirth. it is none of our business. Sheet everything up and do what you feel is right for you. i hope everything goes well for you, i am planning my homebirth at the moment - cant wait!!

I told my landlady in passing, but we lived above her salon and I didn't want her to worry about midwives coming in and out if I went into labour while she was open.

NineUnlikelyTales · 26/11/2007 18:21

I'm just imagining what it must be like to have your hair cut to the sound of a labouring woman!
