I had my c-section 8 days ago and have removed the dressing as advised by the midwife, parts of the wound still seem to be "open" it's not weeping or hot to touch is this normal? I feel like I may have been overdoing things due to not being in any pain! Hoovering, short walks ect! I've attached a photo please excuse the hair and stretch marks!
Did anyone else's look like this? It's my second section but I just can't remember what my first looked like due to it being 4 years ago!

It seems fine to me. If it's not weeping or hot, I'd take that as a good sign! Disclaimer: I had 2 CS and the most recent one was 9 years ago.

Keep an eye on it. It looks ok, but any changes need to be seen. It shouldn't hurt excessively.

Thank you both! I was just worried as it's slightly open! Think I just need to take it a lot easier on myself and remind myself I did have major surgery a week ago! X

I remember after my first, when I got discharged from hospital and came home, it was a glorious sunny and windy day, ideal to wash the sheets. So I stripped the bed, changed the sheets and did the washing all at a 90 degree angle because I could not stand straight... that was 3 days after the CS. I could not stand straight or think straight for that matter!
Bonkers.

It looks OK to me. I seem to remember mine wasn't closed 100% completely.

Flowers congratulations

That looks exactly the same as mine looked afterthe midwife had snipped the beads off the ends of the stitches, it will dry up with getting air to it. Don't be too worried if it itches like mad it is totally normal ,& part of the healing process.

Take it easy, it's major surgery. You might look and feel ok but doing too much can cause problems, why risk it? Look after baby and let someone else do the other jobs, or leave them till you have healed! Look out for redness, heat or weeping. Stop hoovering!
